Walnut Street Theatre Announces 2010-11 Indepence Studio On 3 Season

The Walnut Street Theatre's Independence Studio on 3 is an 80 seat theatre that brings you right into the heart of the action. The Walnut's Studio 3 is the city's premier stage for thrillingly intimate productions of today's funniest and most thought-provoking playwrights. The Walnut's 2010-2011 Studio 3 season includes:

CAESAR'S PALACE O' FUN November 23 - January 2
THE GLASS MENAGERIE January 18 - February 6
THE UGLY ONE February 22 - March 13
SPEAKING IN TONGUES March 29 - April 17
MY WAY: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO Frank Sinatra May 5 - June 28

The season kicks off with the hilarious world premiere of Frank Ferrante's CAESAR'S PALACE O' FUN! Part Ricky Ricardo, part Liberace, Caesar is a Latin lounge lothario who's here to present his new "spectacular", packed with music, variety acts, surprises and laughs galore. From the creator of the international sensation Groucho, this new show is full of outrageous antics and audience interaction. This limited engagement at the Palace runs November 23 - January 2.

Next up is Tennessee Williams' masterpiece, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, which will play Studio 3 prior to the Walnut's National Tour! Amanda Wingfield, a faded Southern belle, holds on tight to her two children, the painfully shy Laura, and the rebellious Tom. A hauntingly personal work, the play tells the story of the Wingfields, their lost dreams, family bonds and survival. THE GLASS MENAGERIE enchants audiences from January 18 - February 6, 2011.

THE UGLY ONE by Marius von Mayenburg is a dark comedy that takes a deep look into the concept of beauty in a society shaped by plastic surgeons. When our hero is deemed too ugly to sell his own product, he goes under the knife for help. When the bandages come off, his world is turned inside out. THE UGLY ONE nips and tucks from February 22 - March 13, 2011.

An intriguing and theatrical trilogy of interwoven stories propels the action in Andrew Bovell's SPEAKING IN TONGUES. On a lonely road, a leading psychiatrist disappears. As the detective works to piece together what happened he delivers a puzzle of relationships in crisis. This highly charged thriller is a captivating and wickedly funny play about making mistakes and living with the consequences. SPEAKING IN TONGUES works the investigation from March 29 - April 17, 2011.

The finale to the 2010 - 2011 Studio 3 Season is MY WAY: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO Frank Sinatra, an unforgettable musical that celebrates The Chairman of the Board's mystique, and the music that made him famous. Two dynamic couples take the audience from the 1940s swing era to the bright lights of Las Vegas with the Rat Pack and beyond. The classic score includes such famous Sinatra tunes as "Strangers in the Night," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Fly Me to the Moon," and "New York, New York". Ol' Blue Eyes is back, from May 3 - June 26, 2011.
