Upper Darby Summer Stage to Present HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, 8/8-10

By: Jul. 27, 2012

Ahoy! Set sail for the high seas when Upper Darby Summer Stage presents the new musical adventure "How I Became a Pirate" based on the popular children's book by Melinda Long and David Shannon.

Shows are performed at 10:30 am on August 8, 9, 10 and at 7:30 pm on August 9. Tickets are $6 - $9 and may be purchased online at www.udpac.org or by calling the Box Office, 610.622.1189. Each performance is approximately one hour and appropriate for children five and up. Free babysitting is available for those too young to quietly enjoy the show.

Directed by Nick Hunchak of Springfield, "How I Became a Pirate" brings a fun, humorous children's book to the stage in a spectacular way. "The score energizes the amusing, well-crafted script," says Hunchak. "The parents as well as the kids will enjoy the clever, slap-stick humor. It's a story told through the eyes and imagination of a young boy as he embarks on new adventures, but while doing so, learns to appreciate the comforts and predictability of life at home. From the movement, to the costumes, to the merry music, everyone will have a great time watching this show."
