Totem Pole Playhouse Welcomes Jenna Sokolowski As Resident Actor For 2009 Season

Totem Pole Playhouse welcomes Helen Hayes Award Winning Actress, Jenna Sokolowski to its Resident Acting Company for the 2009 Season. Ms. Sokolowski is currently performing the role of Daisey Holiday in You Say Tomatoes, sponsored by The Orchards. She has played many of the great stages in Washington, DC including: The Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, The Shakespeare, Round House Theatre, and Signature Theatre, where she received the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Resident Musical in 2007. Signature Theatre received the 2009 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.

One of the country's most prestigious cultural honors, the Helen Hayes Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Awards are presented annually, bringing together over 2,000 theatre makers and theatre lovers to The Warner Theatre and JW Marriott Hotel in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C.

Playhouse Artistic Director, Ray Ficca performed with Ms. Sokolowski at Bethesda's Imagination Stage in the fall of 2007. "Jenna is one of the most versatile actors I have ever worked with. Her comic timing is impeccable, she can play very tender dramatic moments, and she has a fantastic singing voice," says Ficca. Ms. Sokolowski will perform the role of Deirdre McDavey alongside Ficca in The Playhouse's third offering this season, I Hate Hamlet, which opens June 30 and runs through July 12.
