Totem Pole Playhouse Announces 2009 Legacy Society & Honors Awards

Totem Pole Playhouse, PA's premiere professional summer theatre recognized five individuals as charter members of the theatres newly formed Legacy Society on Friday, October 2 at The Orchards Restaurant, Chambersburg. 


John Gates of Scotland; Charles Q. Smith, Nathan Rotz, Elise Overcash all of Chambersburg and Sue McMurtray of Caledonia were thanked by Judy Houser, Executive Director for their commitment to the playhouse to help ensure it will continue for future generations. The Legacy Society is an honorary society recognizing individuals who have included the theatre in their estate plans.

Elise Overcash, President of the Board of Directors presented seven awards. The list of Award Recipients appears below:

Mr. & Mrs. William Reinhardt, Camp Hill - President's Award for exemplary commitment to the theatre.

Charles Q. Smith, Chambersburg - Benefactor of the Year for devotion and support of Totem Pole Playhouse.

F & M Trust, Bill Snell, President, Chambersburg - Community Partner of the Year as a business supporter of the theatre since 1993.

David Bailey, Chambersburg - Volunteer of the Year as Chairman of the Friends of Totem Pole for 12 years.

William Gelbach, Waynesboro - 60 years of supporting the theatre as the remaining original shareholder out of 13.

Judy Houser, Chambersburg - 25 years of employment with the theatre.

Sue McMurtray, Caledonia - 25 years of employment with the theatre.

Totem Pole Playhouse is one of eleven remaining Council of Resident Stock Theatres in the United States. 2010 will mark the 60th anniversary of the summer playhouse. Additional information about the theatre can be found at www.TotemPolePlayhouse.org.
