In the show "Ask a Sex Abuse Survivor", author and performer Michael Broussard recounts his experiences as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, while also inviting audience members to offer comments, ask questions and tell their own stories.

Broussard was abused by a stepfather at the age of eight. The marks that abuse left are the focus of this show. The hope is that in sharing his story, Broussard will be able to encourage other survivors to speak up and speak out.

"Sexual predators rely on the silence of their victims," says Broussard. "They operate in the shadows, secure that they have groomed their victims to believe speaking up would only mark the victim as a liar--or worse. It's time we dragged these predators out into the light."

Broussard is also the producer, director and emcee of the Five Minute Follies, Philadelphia's only ongoing family friendly vintage variety show.

"Ask a Sex Abuse Survivor" is set for Sunday, June 29th, 2014. Performances at 5pm and 7pm at the Adrienne Theatre (Playground), 2030 Sansom St., Philadelphia, PA 19103. Tickets available at sexabusesurvivor.com or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Pay what you can ($5 minimum). Web and phone ticket sales end midnight the day before the show. After that, tickets are available at the door. For more information, email askasurvivor@gmail.com.
