ROCK OF AGES Comes To Philadelphia, Opens October 18

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80's. It's ROCK OF AGES, a hilarious, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. Coming to you, direct from Broadway is the National Tour of the five-time 2009 Tony Award® nominated smash-hit musical ROCK OF AGES, opening the Broadway Season on Oct. 18 - 23 at the Merriam Theater. The Broadway Season is presented by The Kimmel Center and The Shubert Organization. The press opening is Tues. Oct. 18 at 7:30 pm.

Tickets ranging in price from $20 to $100 are now on sale. Tickets can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at kimmelcenter.org/broadway, at the Kimmel Center box office, Broad & Spruce Sts. (open daily 10 am to 6 pm) or at the Merriam Theater box office, 250 S. Broad St. (open during performances only). Groups of 10 or more will receive discounts for select performances by calling 215-790-5883 or 866-276-2947. Performances include: Tuesday - Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm; Friday & Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm; Sunday evening at 6:30 pm; and matinees Saturday at 2:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm.

ROCK OF AGES is a worldwide phenomenon with smash hit productions in Australia, London, South Korea and still rockin' on Broadway, featuring 28 classic rock tunes including "Don't Stop Believin'", "We Built This City", "The Final Countdown", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Here I Go Again", "Harden My Heart", "Can't Fight this Feeling", "Renegade" and "I Want To Know What Love Is".

ROCK OF AGES is directed by Tony Award Nominee Kristin Hanggi (Bare, Pussycat Dolls on the Sunset Strip) and choreographed by Kelly Devine (Jersey Boys - Associate Choreographer). With a book by Chris D'Arienzo (writer and director of the film Barry Munday), original arrangements by David Gibbs (Counting Crows, Film: That Thing You Do) and the Music Supervision, Arrangements & Orchestrations by Ethan Popp (Tarzan; Europe: We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia).

ROCK OF AGES features set design by Beowulf Boritt (Spelling Bee, LoveMusik), costume design by Tony Nominee Gregory Gale (Cyrano, The Wedding Singer), lighting design by Jason Lyons (The Threepenny Opera), sound design by Craig Cassidy (Phantom, Mamma Mia), and projection design is by Zachary Borovay (A Catered Affair).

(Mar. 20 - 25, 2012) and WEST SIDE STORY (Mar. 27 - Apr. 8, 2012), all at the Academy of Music. The new season will also welcome the return of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award Winning Best Musical JERSEY BOYS (Dec. 6, 2011- Jan. 14, 2012) at the Forrest Theatre. Additional shows will include: GAZILLION BUBBLE SHOW ( Nov. 5 & 6 ) and THE WIZARD OF OZ (Dec. 27 & 28), both at the Merriam Theater; RAIN - A Tribute To The Beatles (Jan. 31 - Feb. 5) and the premiere of a spectacular new production of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (June 5 - 10, 2012), both at the Academy of Music.
