Mark your calendars! Single tickets for The Philadelphia Orchestra's spectacular 2010-11 season go on sale August 2-a month earlier than usual! Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit leads nine thrilling weeks of programming that feature the Opening Night Gala with violinist Joshua Bell, Grieg's Piano Concerto with André Watts, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, Holst's mythically-inspired The Planets, and Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 9. Yannick Nézet-Séguin makes his first appearances as Music Director Designate leading two programs that include Mahler's Symphony No. 5 and Mozart's Requiem. Multimedia offerings abound in 2010-11-the popular Beyond the Score series returns for its second year, while the Orchestra introduces Sound Waves, a three concert series that explores different connective paths between music, culture, and media. The new season also boasts a starry array roster of guest conductors and soloists sure to excite music lovers.
