Philadelphia Theatre Company grossed $205,000 in ticket sales for its 2008/2009 mainstage season finale, Grey Gardens, which closed after a five-week run on Sunday, June 28.

In setting a new single ticket record for the company, Grey Gardens joins other PTC box office chart-toppers such as The Happiness Lecture, Take Me Out, and Nerds://A Musical Software Satire.

"We are thrilled by the public response and support for our production of Grey Gardens, and it is encouraging to have affirmation that our audience appreciates and continues to support the exciting new plays and musicals that are at the core of PTC's mission," said Sara Garonzik, Philadelphia Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director.

PTC's next production is City of Nutterly Love: Funny as Bell!, a co-presentation with Chicago's famed improv troupe, The Second City, running July 8-26 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Comedy birthplace of Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, John Belushi, Tina Fey, and countless others, The Second City brings its legendary comedy genius to Philadelphia with an all-new revue that's sure to ring (crack?) your bell. The Chicago-based masters of improv comedy give Philly a hilarious once-over,

Second City-style! In keeping with the Philly-centric theme, each of the three Friday night shows will feature a post-performance by a different local improv troupe: Tongue & Groove on July 10. Comedy Sportz on July 17, and Cecily and Gwendolyn on July 24.
