Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Presents THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Tonight
Diversifying its offerings throughout the season with special one-night-only performances, The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival presents Anthony Lawton's adaptation of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. The 90-minute, two-person play will be performed tonight, July 29 at 7:30pm on the Main Stage.
Lawton, a long-time PSF company member who is also performing in Henry VIII, reprises his performance as Screwtape, an undersecretary in Hell's infinite bureaucracy. He dictates letters to his demon nephew, Wormwood, assigned the task of tempting a single, earthly soul to damnation.
Once named Philadelphia's "Best One-Man Theatre," Lawton delivers a play that crackles with wit and insight. Punctuating the play are dances in styles as varied as tap, Latin ballroom, jazz, martial arts, and rock, performed by Screwtape and his sinuous secretary, Toadpipe, played by Kim Carson.
Tickets are $30 and available at the box office by calling 610.282.WILL [9455], or online www.pashakespeare.org.
