InterAct Theatre Company is proud to announce that they will round out the 2016/17 season with the fantastical YOU FOR ME FOR YOU by Mia Chung. This deeply imaginative work perfectly complements the other three shows that InterAct has programmed for the first full season in its new home at The Drake in Center City. There are also several updates to their previously announced productions.

It was recently publicized that the play that leads InterAct's season, GROUNDED by George Brant, will be made into a major motion picture starring Anne Hathaway. The story follows an American fighter pilot who becomes unexpectedly pregnant and is reassigned to remotely operate military drones in a trailer outside Las Vegas. When she is tasked to take down a high-profile target, boundaries begin to blur between the desert where she lives with her family and the one she patrols half a world away. At InterAct, GROUNDED will run September 30 - October 23, directed by Kathryn MacMillan and starring Kittson O'Neill.

InterAct is also excited to announce that Mary Tuomanen, one of Philadelphia's most beloved theatre artists, will be joining its Core Playwright program, a two-year program dedicated to nurturing local playwrights. At the same time, her world premiere play, MARCUS/EMMA (full title TBA) has been scheduled for the second InterAct production of the season. The play depicts two of American history's most iconic revolutionaries -- Jewish anarchist Emma Goldman and African American civil rights activist Marcus Garvey. Tuomanen brings her political passion, tender humanity, and savage humor to the characters of Goldman and Garvey in a play that begs the question: Where are today's inspirational radicals when we need them most? Starring Akeem Davis, MARCUS/EMMA will run January 20 - February 12, 2017.

The third piece will be the newly-announced YOU FOR ME FOR YOU by Mia Chung which depicts the harrowing and dream-like tale of two North Korean sisters, Minhee and Junhee, who are torn apart at the border as they attempt to flee the "Best Nation in the World." Each must race across time and space to be together again-navigating the perilous "Land of the Free" and the treacherous terrain of personal belief. Chung's humor-filled play is a kaleidoscope of themes casting light on the darkness of a secretive regime while simultaneously illuminating American values. YOU FOR ME FOR YOU will star Bi Jean Ngo and Justin Jain, and run March 24 - April 16, 2017.

Philly stalwarts Scott Greer and Lindsay Smiling join the cast of InterAct's closing production, HOW TO USE A KNIFE. Set in the raw, ever-pumping kitchen of a busy Wall Street restaurant, Will Snider's fast-paced and gritty drama revolves around George - a master chef with a tortured past - as he forges an unlikely personal connection with his dishwasher Steve, a mysteriously reserved African immigrant. When the ugliness of their hidden lives boil to the surface, both men are forced to face their demons. HOW TO USE A KNIFE will run May 26 - June 18, 2017 and is a National New Play Network "rolling" world premiere.
