Hanover Little Theatre to Present Benefit Show, THE OLD PEOPLE ARE REVOLTING

The comedy The Old People Are Revolting will hit an American stage for just the second time ever when Hanover Little Theatre opens its 68th season on Sept.9.

Written by New Zealander Devon Williamson, the play focuses on a group of senior citizens who show they they have some fight in them when they take on the city council. The only previous American production of the show was at the Topeka (Kansas) Civic Theatre in 2015.

A portion of the proceeds from the production will benefit Golden Vision Adult Day Services in Hanover. This will mark the eighth straight show where HLT will donate money to a local non-profit organization.

The show, directed by Hanover resident Beau Bowden, will run Sept. 9-11 and 15-18. Tickets are on sale now at www.hanoverlittletheatre.com. All tickets are $15 with no fees for tickets printed at home or bought at the door. Discounts are available for students, seniors and groups of 10 or more.

The theatre will donate $2 for every ticket sold to the Saturday, September 10, show to Golden Visions. An anonymous patron will match that donation, generating $4 for every person attending that performance. Additionally, donations for Golden Visions will be accepted at all seven performances.

Since inaugurating this program in November 2014, Hanover Little Theatre has donated $3,400 to a variety of local organizations.

Six feisty seniors and one eager news reporter take matters into their own hands when the city council decides to end energy rebates for senior citizens. Led by a ex-union protester and a former used car salesman, the residents of Sunshine Retirement Village secede to form their own unique country with hilarious results.

Some familiar faces to regular patrons will mix with new additions to form the cast. Dixie Smith (Patricia), Bonnie Raubenstine (Shirley), Elizabeth Wills (Peggy) and Phyllis Reinsfelder (Elizabeth) play Sunshine's female residents. Mike Jones (Howie) and Chris Walsh (Doug) stir things up from the men's side while Wendee Dunlap (Ashley) plays the reporter looking to turn the uprising into her big career move.

The theatre's box office will be open for ticket sales from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 27 and Sept. 3 and from noon to 2 p.m. on Aug. 28 and Sept. 4. Season-long memberships are also available at www.hanoverlittletheatre.com.
