The MAAFA Commemorative Week's Theme is: "We Can't Give Up Now"
This week allows us to remember that we have come this far by faith. However, even with the great achievements of our ancestors and today's history makers, we can't give up now... it is not enough. We must help our community continue to progress, to be intellectually free, and to impart in our youth the mindset of acquiring greatness. No matter what odds are stacked-up against us... "We Can't Give Up Now!"

The Drama Production's Theme is: "Law and Disorder"
This production is a drama along the storyline of the television show "Law and Order." There is a courtroom scene that deliberates the health epidemic of HIV/AIDs in our community. Each time the HHCDC provides a drama production, it is for the purposes of entertainment and to raise awareness about something in our community. The goal of this production is to cause the audience to make responsible choices, to educate our community about the truth, the myths and the need for our community to understand when one is infected, we all are affected.

Monday 4/25

Middle Passage Re-enactment
This is a powerful intimate re-enactment of Africans in their homeland being captured and their journey across the seas in the slave trade.
We will conclude the service with Blood knots. This a tradition where each person is given a piece of red cloth to tie onto the previous year's. Each person represents the diversity in humanity, the red cloth reminds us of our similarities, and the tying of the knots is our commitment to diminish prejudice and hatred and progressively pull forward. This re-enactment will encompass African dance, music, singing, acting and reflecting.

Tuesday 4/26
Dialogue with Ms. Junie and Ms. Sarah
(Sisters of Addie Mae Collins who perished in the 1963 Birmingham Church Bombing)
These sisters will share their experience of their personal story through the lost of their sister and friends, as well as the experience of Civil Rights then and the need for educating youth. This will be held at Kingdom Embassy. The evening will also provide spirited monologs and singing.

Wednesday 4/27

An evening with Lenwood Sloan
(Director of Cultural & Heritage Tourism with the State Department of Community Economic Development)

Mr. Sloan will offer a presentation titled "Remember the Saints!" There will also be African Drumming.

A Multimedia Production, is back by popular demand. This clever production was written and produced by Monika Ross and Johntrae Williams. Law & Disorder incorporates video, a live band, and amazing acting performances, all while using the stage as a platform to educate on the stigmas surrounding HIV/AIDS.

Synopsis:
The city of Harrisburg is facing one of the most controversial trials in its history. The Case of the Stigma Free Alliance Vs. The People's Coalition of Health. It is a fight to the finish as the Stigma Free Alliance, an avid hate group, upholds their beliefs that anyone with the HIV/AIDS virus should be shipped away and isolated. The two sides go head to head full force in the courtroom, as the Peoples Coalition of Health tries to prove their innocence against the charges brought against them of aiding and abetting the spread of HIV/ AIDS into jobs, homes, and communities. The stakes are high and the search for justice is underway as, human life battles it out against the epidemic of disgrace. There is twist after twist as each side unveils new evidence and information. Who will win? Who is right in their belief? You be the judge.
