Gettysburg Stage Presents THE WOMEN OF LOCKERBIE, 4/27-5/5

By:

Gettysburg Stage will present "The Women of Lockerbie", described as "a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate." Written by Deborah Brevoort and directed by Pamela Hurlbert, the play is inspired by the true story of Pan Am Flight 103 and the women who sought peace in sorrow.

The story begins with a couple trying to gain closure after the death of their son in the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Hoping to find their son's remains, they meet the Women of Lockerbie, a group pleading with the US Government to turn over the clothing of the victims that was found in the plane's wreckage. The women, seeking to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, are determined to wash the 11,000 garments of the dead and return them to the victims' families.

"It has been a pleasure and a challenge to bring 'The Women of Lockerbie' to life," says director Pamela Hurlbert. "The pleasure comes from working with an enthusiastic and talented cast, and the challenge comes from being faithful to the author's vision. I hope our audience find this play about hate, love and discovering peace of mind as fascinating as we have."

The cast includes Kelly Clark, Brenda Crooks, Joan Crooks, David Hurlbert, Jeff Leinbach, Karen Saltzgiver and Hilary Snesrud.

Performances of "The Women of Lockerbie" are at the Gettysburg Fire Hall at 35 N Stratton St, Gettysburg at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, April 27 through May 5.
