Theatre Exile's 2010-11 season is bolder than ever-with two productions in 2011 guaranteed to leave you gasping for more! With the Philadelphia premieres of Martin McDonagh's heart-pounding comedy The Lieutenant of Inishmore and Noah Haidle's simply beautiful Saturn Returns, Exile is your destination for "genuine mind-blowing theater" (City Paper).

Coming in February: Theatre Exile presents The Lieutenant of Inishmore, by Martin McDonagh. Directed by Matt Pfeiffer with a star-studded artistic team, The Lieutenant of Inishmore runs February 17 through March 13 at Plays and Players Theatre, with the press opening Wednesday, February 23 at 8pm.

Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore drops audiences into the eye of a firestorm, where citizens of a small Irish town are locked, loaded and ready to go. This blackest of comedies packs enough romance, vengeance, family strife, betrayal, patriotism, danger and lyricism into its 110 minutes of merry butchery to make the Bard blush.

Director Matt Pfeiffer has assembled some of the most exciting artists to bring this gore ballet to life, including Waldo Warsaw, special effects designer from the original Broadway production. With 60 rounds of ammunition, gallons of blood, exploding cats and a final scene that defies the laws of the theatrically possible, this will be the biggest, bloodiest theatrical event of the season!

Coming in April: Theatre Exile presents Saturn Returns, by Noah Haidle. Directed by Brenna Geffers and featuring longtime Philadelphia icon Harry Philibosian, Saturn Returns runs April 28 through May 22 at Christ Church Neighborhood House, with the press opening Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm.

Saturn Returns launches audiences into a bittersweet orbit of memory, loss and love. The play takes its name from Saturn's 30-year orbit around the sun; when Saturn returns to the position it held at a person's birth, it marks a time of great upheaval and personal change. Noah Haidle's elegantly structured tale brings us to three pivotal days in the life of Gustin Novak, at the ages of 28, 58 and finally 88. As loved ones slip in and out of his life, Gustin uses his wicked sense of humor and sharp wit to navigate through the discovery that every beginning is also an end.

Exile's production marks the American premiere of Haidle's newly revised script for Saturn Returns, after the playwright re-imagined the piece in London this past November. With the savagely keen and funny insight that made Mr. Marmalade an audience favorite, Saturn springs nimbly from this quick and wholly unique theatrical mind. As The New Yorker remarks, "Haidle's most prodigious gift may be his psychological sophistication. Beautifully written... Haidle finds a way of dramatizing the presence of absence in all of us."

Cast, director and design team for both plays are available for phone or email interviews; please contact Tenley Bank at 215.218.4022 to schedule.
