EgoPo's 20th Anniversary Gala Set for 6/25

EgoPo Classic Theater celebrates their 20th anniversary with a special Annual Gala on Wednesday, June 25th from 6-9pm on the tall ship Gazela, docked at Penn's Landing (Market St. & Columbus Blvd.). This sea-themed Gala will feature food by Stephen Starr, an open bar, a huge silent auction, and live sea shanties sung by EgoPo's artists while guests sip champagne under the stars.

EgoPo Classic Theater recently ended their 2013-2014 Henrik Ibsen Festival with the Philadelphia premiere of Romulus Linney's GINT, an Appalachian adaptation of Ibsen's masterpiece Peer Gynt. Before transporting audiences to rural Kentucky, during their season devoted to the father of modern drama, EgoPo radically deconstructed Ibsen's well-known A Doll's House into a one-woman show and presented his rarely performed Lady from the Sea starring Barrymore Award Winning actress, Genevieve Perrier.

At this Gala, EgoPo will officially announce their new season. With their 2014-15 season the company will continue their tradition of producing yearlong themed seasons with their Great American Dreams festival. Directors Lane Savadove and Brenna Geffers will take on America's greatest playwrights, and their interpretations of the American Dream, with productions of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, Tennessee Williams' Stairs to the Roof, and Eugene O'Neill's The Hairy Ape.

To celebrate the close of their Ibsen season, and welcome in the new American Dream season, EgoPo will hold their annual Gala (for the 20th time!). Their 20th Anniversary Gala will be held on Wednesday, June 25th on the historic tall ship Gazela from 6pm-9pm. EgoPo invites audiences to step back into the 19th century for an evening on the waterfront featuring dinner catered by Stephen Starr Restaurants to be enjoyed on the deck of the three-masted ship.

Gala attendees will enjoy a beautiful view of the sunset from Penn's Landing while enjoying live seaside shanties performed by EgoPo's artists. The night will feature an open bar serving sea side favorites, like Sea Breezes, Salty Dogs, and champagne to be shared with friends under the stars. This special Gala will also feature EgoPo's largest silent auction featuring items from The Phila. Orchestra, Prime Rib, Opera Phila., Fringe Arts, Franklin Fountain, and more.

All proceeds from the 20th Anniversary Gala will directly support EgoPo's unique programming and bold performances. Join them on the Gazela to celebrate another year of classic theater on the edge.
