Subscriptions to Civic Theatre of Allentown's 2010-2011 season are now on sale. Interested patrons can buy these subscriptions, which will save them up to 25 percent on their tickets, by going online to www.CivicTheatre.com, calling Civic's Box Office at 610.432.8943 or visiting Civic in person at 527 N 19th Street between 10am and 4pm any weekday.

Civic has made the subscription process much easier this year; we're now introducing the Civic Season Pass, in which patrons can now pick whatever date they want for each show for just one low price. A Civic Season Pass for 4 shows is $84 for adults and $76 for students/seniors. A Civic Season Pass for 3 shows is $72 for adults and $63 for students/seniors.

Here is the rundown for Civic's 2010-2011 season - all shows directed by Civic Artistic Director William Sanders:

Rocky Horror Show: October 8th - 24th in Civic's 19th Street Theatre.

Civic celebrates the 35th anniversary of Rocky Horror Show's Broadway debut by putting on our own raucous production! Yes, there WILL be midnight showings, and yes, there WILL be NO TOAST. Whether you know the Broadway show or the cult classic film (which is also celebrating its 35th anniversary), you know there's nothing quite like the fun of being part of a Rocky Horror audience.

A Christmas Carol: December 3rd - 18th in Civic's 19th Street Theatre

The Lehigh Valley's favorite holiday show is Civic's traditional production of A Christmas Carol. Charles Dickens' legendary characters have come to life for over 20 years on Civic's stage as tens of thousands of people from the Lehigh Valley and beyond have come to catch the spirit of the season. As always, Sanders (the co-adapter of the Christmas Carol script) will introduce new twists and elements to make sure 2010's production is like no other.

Fifth of July: February 18th - March 6th in Civic's Theatre514

After a year off, Civic is excited to bring a play back to its Theatre514, now renovated with new theatre seating! Lanford Wilson's Fifth of July, set in Missouri in 1977, focuses on a group of friends who spent their college years together as activists, joined in the idealistic fight for a more peaceful and better world. Now grown up, the friends must reconcile real life with their dreams.

Part of Wilson's acclaimed Talley family trilogy, Fifth of July is a bittersweet portrait of the rock 'n roll generation at the precise moment they realize the fireworks ended yesterday. At once poignant and marvelously funny, The New York Times called it the "wisest and funniest play of its generation." Civic will be the first to bring Fifth of July to the Lehigh Valley.

Ragtime: May 6th - 22nd in Civic's 19th Street Theatre.

The 2010-2011 season will come to a close with a musical that has received 20 Tony nominations: Ragtime. This Flaherty/Ahrens/McNally collaboration received 13 nominations during its first run in 1998, including wins for Best Book and Best Score, and another 7 for this season's Broadway revival.

Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, Ragtime weaves together three distinctly American tales -- that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician -- united by their courage, compassion and belief in the promise of the future. Civic is thrilled to bring this show out for its Lehigh Valley debut.

Sanders, who handpicked this upcoming season, sums up his plans by saying "This is an eclectic, electric roster with crazy rock and roll ‘horror'; the original, traditional journey of Ebeneezer Scrooge; the brilliantly funny and ultimately heartbreaking Fifth of July and the epic excitement of the brilliant Ragtime; There's something for everyone as these are all pieces we can't wait to bring to life here at Civic. 2010-2011 will hopefully thrill you as much as I am thrilled in antici...........................pation."

Season subscriptions for Civic Theatre's 2010-2011 season are available in 3-show or 4-show blocks, and at regular adult and discounted student/senior prices. These subscriptions are the best way to ensure great seats. Single tickets for Civic's 2009-2010 shows will go on sale on Tuesday, September 8th.
