The American Music Theatre announces the World Premiere of the epic adventure and deeply moving story of John Newton, writer of one of the world's most loved and recognized songs. This new musical features stars from Broadway blockbusters such as Les Miserables and The Phantom of The Opera, performing 17 original compositions with a live orchestra and a cast of over 40, in this fully staged theatrical premiere.

AMAZING GRACE: The True Story, written by Pennsylvania's own Christopher Smith, is a poignant coming-of-age tale about a successful father and a rebellious son, and the impossible romance between a proper English girl and a boarding school dropout who will be transformed from a slave trader into a man who would be instrumental in ending the slave trade.

A host of intense storm sequences, pitched battles at sea, and many heart wrenching dilemmas of life in the 1740s will come to life in the state-of-the-art, 1,600-seat theatre on Route 30, directly across from the Rockvale Outlets.

Jim Martin, President of The American Music Theatre stated, "AMT decided to embrace the musical because we believe this could be the next Broadway blockbuster."

The producers will be offering free sneak-preview concerts of the show at colleges, universities, festivals and local community venues in the tri-state area beginning this week.

The World Premiere will run from May to September 2009. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office (800-648-4102) or online at: www.agmusical.com.
