1812 Productions to Present Joan Rivers Tribute, Tony Braithwaite Comedy

By:

1812 Productions continues its 19th season with two limited engagement special events. Created by 1812 Productions' Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Childs, and Emily Kleimo, A TRIBUTE TO JOAN RIVERS will be followed by a special addition to our season, Tony Braithwaite's one-man comedy DIDN'T YOUR FATHER HAVE THIS TALK WITH YOU?.

A TRIBUTE TO JOAN RIVERS is an homage to one of the 20th century's most iconic comedians and features work from all facets of Ms. Rivers' career beginning with her nightclub days and The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show, and Fashion Police. We look to her best-selling books The Life and Hard Times of Heidi Abromowitz, Bouncing Back, and Diary of a Mad Diva. We celebrate her eternal place on the red carpet, her non-stop touring, and her infamous joke file. Joan Rivers made the taboo topical and the domestic a scream with unapologetic insights on sex, politics, fashion, plastic surgery, celebrity, and more.

A TRIBUTE TO JOAN RIVERS will be performed by Jennifer Childs, Barrymore Award-winning actress Maureen Torsney-Weir, and Hillary Rea, founder of Tell Me A Story. Ms. Torsney-Weir, who worked with Joan Rivers during her time at QVC, remembers, "She was a total pro. She knew everyone's names and had no entourage. She was unfailingly kind, thoughtful, and profane -- when told another celebrity bought a home in the area, she replied, 'You don't shit where you live.' I adored and admired her. She truly loved her fans and was proud of her business. She was a comic genius and the quickest wit I'd ever met. "

A TRIBUTE TO JOAN RIVERS will be performed on Monday, February 29th at 7:30pm and Tuesday, March 1st at 7:30pm at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Street. All tickets are $25 and can be purchased at 215-592-9560 or at www.1812productions.org.

1812 Productions is thrilled to add to our season a fantastic original comedy, written and performed by Philadelphia favorite Tony Braithwaite. Based on 12 years of experiences teaching both Religion and Sex Education to teenage boys at a Jesuit high school in Philadelphia, Braithwaite's DIDN'T YOUR FATHER HAVE THIS TALK WITH YOU? played to sold-out houses at Act II Playhouse and comes to 1812 Productions in this limited engagement event.

DIDN'T YOUR FATHER HAVE THIS TALK WITH YOU? replaces the previously announced An Evening Without... special event and will be performed on Monday, May 2nd at 7:30pm and Tuesday, May 3rd at 7:30pm at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Street. All tickets are $25 and can be purchased at 215-592-9560 or at www.1812productions.org.
