11th Hour Theatre Company Announces 2012-2013 Season

By:

11th Hour Theatre Company is set to bring audiences a mix of high-energy Mainstage musicals next season and a provocative blend of new musicals with their Next Step Concert Series. The season will also include their 8th annual Philly Rocks concert.

"We have created a great mix of artistically challenging pieces for the concert series, hilariously entertaining musicals for our mainstage productions and of course a Rock & Roll experience with our 8th Annual Philly Rocks Concert!” said 11th Hour Theatre Producing Artistic Director Michael Philip O’Brien. “Not only are we producing more musicals than ever before, but we are also launching a brand new website as well as an elite new membership program - Society XI."

Their Mainstage season will kick off with the return of the four best friends from 11th Hour’s 2011-2012 season closer The Marvelous Wonderettes, Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy are back to put audiences in the holiday spirit. 11th Hour will kick off their season at Theatre Horizon’s Brand New theatre in Norristown with the Philadelphia premiere of Roger Bean’s Winter Wonderettes (December 7 –December 30, 2012, Opening Night Monday Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.). This production will be directed by 11th Hour’s Resident Director Megan Nicole O’Brien. Most of the cast from the early summer hit will return.

The Mainstage season will close in June with the company’s take on the high octane boy-band musical Altar Boyz (June 7th through June 30th, Opening Night Monday June 10 7 p.m.). This show will be performed in the Off Broad Street Theatre at First Baptist Church and Megan Nicole O’Brien is set to direct.

New this year, 11th Hour is introducing the Next Step Concert Series. This new series is designed to give 11th Hour audiences an introduction to some of the best contemporary musicals and to shed new light on some of the company’s favorite musicals. All of the musicals in the series are under consideration for future full scale productions by the company.

This series will kick-off right before the 2012 presidential election with a concert version of Alex Timbers’ and Michael Friedman’s rock musical about America’s sexiest, bad-ass president Andrew Jackson in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. It will continue in January with Passing Strange, featuring Barrymore Winner and TONY nominee Forrest McClendon and 11th Hour Regular and Barrymore nominee Carl Clemons Hopkins. The spring will continue with a concert performance of Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party. The 2012-2013 season will also include the company’s annual Philly Rocks concert.

This year, 11th Hour Theatre Company is introducing a new membership program, Society XI. Society XI is not a subscription, it’s an elite club that gives members a flexible way to see the company’s shows and support the company. Packages vary from $25-$200. More information is available on 11th Hour’s brand new website, www.11thhourtheatrecompany.org.
