Girl From Oz Dubbed 'Next Celine Dion'

Could Aussie soprano Clara Helms be the next Celine Dion?

With the recording of her latest single All By Myself - recorded by Dion herself in 1996, a cover of the 1975 Eric Carmen original - the industry is abuzz with what Helms has to offer.

Travelling halfway around the world from Sydney to Los Angeles, she joined forces with an international team of music heavyweights to totally re-invent the song, leading the way in crossover music.

As Paul Farberman, Celine Dion's business affairs manager for 17 years (Feeling Productions), says, "I have known Celine Dion since she signed with Sony Music more than 32 years ago where I was vice-president of business affairs and was then honoured to have worked with René Angélil in managing her career for many years," he said.

"I have seen Celine sing All By Myself countless times and seen a number of very good singers perform that song but none of them with the vocal range, power and subtlety to match Celine - until now!

"Clara Helms uses her background as a soprano and incredible range to deliver a powerful, passionate, recording of this song that will no doubt bring audiences to their feet when performed live.

"Until then, sit back and enjoy Clara's truly outstanding recording. Bravo!"

Born in Perth, Western Australia, and now Sydney-based, Helms received national recognition in her homeland as a finalist on the television show Australia's Got Talent.

And from TV to tears, to finally finding her true voice, she really has done it all by herself, just like her latest single.

Helms has independently forged a career that has seen her perform regularly for Australian prime ministers and governors, open for Il Divo and sing in more than 24 countries, including Singapore where she was the headline act at the Marina Bay Sands Christmas Event, hosted by David Beckham.

Despite her busy schedule, she also independently released her debut album My Love in the process.

All By Myself came about as a result of her friendship with upcoming British producer Thomas Spencer, who suggested she join him in LA to work with David Foster's recording team to see what happened.

Spencer chose the song because he felt it captured Helms' experiences. His team included sound engineer Jorge Vivo (more than 55 million albums sold with David Foster), arranger and composer Oliver Spencer, lyricist Fabrizio Mancinelli, Ramon Stagnaro (guitarist for Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban), JR Robinson (most recorded drummer in history) and Keith Nelson (bass player for Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, Josh Groban and Michael Buble).

"I was determined to never give up on my passion and dreams so I grabbed the bull by the horns and challenged myself to be daring and adventurous," Helms said.

"I was very lucky to be surrounded by the strongest support and guidance, respect, reassurance, love and patience of an amazing world-class team.

"It was one of the most phenomenal, challenging, inspiring and empowering trips of my life."

All By Myself is available through iTunes and Amazon.
