BIO

Zachary Barton is an actor, writer, teacher and political activist committed to working for social justice. She has performed with The American Conservatory Theatre, The San Francisco Mime Troupe, Berkeley Rep., Encore Theater Company, Intersection For The Arts and The Magic Theater in San Francisco, Ford’s Theatre in DC and Sacred Fools, The Hudson Mainstage and Macha in LA. Her solo show “One Scary Woman! – A Torch Song Teratology” toured California and was nominated for a San Francisco Bay Area Critic’s Circle Award. In 2005/6 she served as stage manager and scheduler for Camp Casey in Crawford, TX outside of Bush’s ranch. In 2006 she produced the dark political comedy Hard Right Off-Broadway in NYC (where a fight broke out in the audience on opening night. http://variety.com/2006/legit/reviews/hard-right-1200517684/ ) From 2007 to 2011 she worked with The Unusual Suspects Theater Company to develop a group playwriting curriculum for rebel youth in high schools, probation camps, prisons and foster care. As a film actor she seeks thought-provoking, sometimes controversial projects and has been seen in short projects like Counter (Film Independent – Project Involve) and Brave New Films’ viral short “Racism Is Real.” More recently, Zac played a bleeding heart juror in Smokd, a vigilante cat lady in AdvoCat!, was fired by Brian Cranston as LBJ in All The Way on HBO and will be seen in Sharp Objects in 2018, also on HBO. She lives in Hollywood with her husband Michael Oosterom.

Geoffrey Nauftts' witty and provocative NEXT FALL takes a hard look at faith, commitment and unconditional love. Set in a hospital waiting room following a life-threatening traffic accident, we meet an assortment of people linked to the patient Luke (Tom Berklund), a handsome young gay man still closeted from his conservative and devoutly religious parents Butch (Stephen Mac Howard) and Arlene (Zachary Barton) who are the only ones allowed to visit their son in the ICU.

MACHA Theatre Co. and Treehouse Productions present the Tony Nominated and awarding winning Broadway play NEXT FALL in its 2015-1016 season. Written by Geoffrey Nauffts. NEXT FALL is about two gay men in a committed relationship with a twist, with one, Luke, being devoutly religious and the other, Adam, an atheist. The play revolves around their five-year relationship and how they make it work despite their differences. However, an accident changes everything. NEXT FALL paints a beautiful and funny portrait of modern romance, asking the hard questions about commitment, love, and faith. Directed by Robin Long.
