Nominations for the 2014 Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced last month at 54 Below, and this morning, the honorees appeared at the 2014 Drama Desk Nominees Reception. BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there and caught interviews with some of the actors nominated in the Play categories, including Tyne Daly, Hamish Linklater, J. Smith-Cameron, Chris O'Dowd, Bryan Cranston and more!

Emmy-winning actress Tyne Daly stopped by this morning's TODAY to talk about her new Broadway play 'Mothers and Sons' and her love of theater.

The McCarter Theatre Center presents two all-new adaptations of Pierre Beaumarchais' comic masterpieces that inspired Rossini and Mozart's operas: The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro. In Mothers and Sons, a mother who pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her - without her - she is finally able to see the rich life her son might have led. The cast is led by Tyne Daly and also features Bobby Steggert, Frederick Weller, and Grayson Taylor. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall) directs. Written by four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally, the play opened last night at Broadway's John Golden Theatre. BroadwayWorld brings you highlights of the cast in action below!

Angela Lansbury was first the first inductee into Bucks County Playhouse Hall of Fame in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where she first appeared on an American stage.

Happy Birthday Arthur Laurents! Laurents' first play, Home of the Brave, opened on Broadway in 1945, followed by many others. He wrote his first musical, West Side Story, in 1957, followed by Gypsy and others. His first screenplay was The Snake Pit in 1948, followed by others including Rope, Anastasia, The Way We Were and The Turning Point. His own play, Invitation to a March in 1960, was the first of several he directed. I Can Get It for You Wholesale in 1961 was the first musical he directed, followed by others including La Cage aux Folles and Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, then Tyne Daly and most recently, Patti LuPone. He pased away in May 2011.

Today in 2011, the first Broadway revival of Master Clas opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, where it ran for 67 performances. Master Class is a play by Terrence McNally, which opened on Broadway on November 15, 1995 at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 598 performances. The original cast included Zoe Caldwell, Audra McDonald, Karen Kay Cody, David Loud, and Jay Hunter Morris. Caldwell and McDonald won Tony Awards for their performances in 1996. Tyne Daly starred as Callas in a summer 2011 revival of the play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) presents the world premiere of Mothers and Sons, a new play by four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally. Last seen at Bucks County in Love Letters opposite James Earl Jones, Emmy and Tony Award-winner Tyne Daly is set to star in the production joined by Tony Award-nominees Manoel Felciano and Bobby Steggert, with direction by Tony Award-nominee Sheryl Kaller. Bucks County Playhouse's 2013 Playhouse Productions summer season is set to include the world premiere of a new play by four time Tony Award -winning playwright Terrence McNally, starring Tony and Emmy Award- winner Tyne Daly. The balance of the season is made up of acclaimed musicals and plays and a production specifically for families. The summer season kicked off on Thursday, May 23rd at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street, New Hope, PA). A company of more than 25 stars of stage and screen entertained a packed house at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Saturday night (April 6) at the 29th Annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.). BWW TV's Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans of the JLE Media Group were on hand for an up close and personal look at the event , themed 'Broadway, My Way,' which raised more than $285,000 for HIV/AIDS direct care, education, and advocacy services offered by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).
