On National Coming Out Day, Thursday, October 11th at 10:30am, this unparalleled coalition will host an event at The Snapple Theater Center (210 West 50th Street, 3rd floor). Hosted by the producers of BARE, speakers will include former NHL star Sean Avery on behalf of Athlete Ally; activist Fiona Dawson on behalf of HRC; Executive Director Brent Childers & LGBT and women's rights advocate Roberta Sklar on behalf of Faith in America and James Clementi & Executive Director Steven Guy on behalf of the Tyler Clementi Foundation, as well as BARE director Stafford Arima and choreographer Travis Wall. They will share their personal experiences, speak about their individual organizations and their collaboration with BARE, and together share the message of equality for all. This special event will also include a performance from BARE.

Ghostlight Records has just announced that Carrie: The Musical - Premiere Cast Recording has debuted atop the Billboard 'Top Broadway' Chart for the week ending September 30th. The official chart lists Carrie: The Musical as the #1 selling album of the week, followed by (in order of sales) Wicked, Bring It On, The Book of Mormon, Once, and Jersey Boys, all shows still running on Broadway, making Carrie's appearance atop the chart a rare feat. Corey Cott will become NEWSIES' new leading man, Jack Kelly, beginning tonight, Wednesday, September 5th. Cott became the Jack Kelly alternate earlier this summer and has continued as alternate until he assumes the role tonight.

The Old Globe will open its 2012-13 Winter Season with the World Premiere of Allegiance - A New American Musical. Created by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione with music and lyrics by Kuo, the original musical tells the story of a Japanese American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. Directed by Stafford Arima (Carrie, Altar Boyz, West End premiere of Ragtime), the production features musical direction and arrangements by Lynne Shankel (Cry-Baby, Company) and choreography by Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, South Pacific). Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), television and film icon George Takei ('Star Trek,' 'Heroes') and Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent) will star.
