The Wiener Staatsoper has announced its 2026/27 season, which director Bogdan Roščić will present to the public during a matinee in the main house on Sunday, April 12 at 11:00 AM, broadcast live on ORF III, play.wiener-staatsoper.at, and the company's YouTube channel.

For Verdi, Shakespeare was a long-standing passion and Macbeth (the first of his three Shakespearean masterpieces) is widely seen as a major step forward in his artistic development. First seen in 2002, Phyllida Lloyd’s production encapsulates the sinister quality of the piece, with striking designs by Anthony Ward.

The Season sees seven new productions on the Main Stage including new productions of Parsifal, Les Vepres siciliennes, and Die Frau ohne Schatten to celebrate milestone anniversaries of Wagner, Verdi and Strauss respectively. Other new Main Stage productions include Don Giovanni from Kasper Holten and Manon Lescaut from Jonathan Kent.
