Last night, November 14, Second Stage opened its much-anticipated production of Little Miss Sunshine. This new musical comedy is based on the film of the same name by Michael Arndt. It was adapted for the stage by Tony Award-winning team James Lapine, who wrote the book, and William Finn, who wrote the lyrics and music. Little Miss Sunshine's run has now been extended through Dec 15. 24-year-old Irish girl Fiona O'Malley, 23-year old Adam Wollerton from Yorkshire, 22-year old Rachel Kelly from Glasgow and 25-year old Joseph Alexander are bringing their highly-praised musical production to an off West End venue following a performance at the 900-seater Rose Theatre and sell-out three day run at the IYAF festival in July. In a new spin off show for Fox, 'So You Think You Can Dance' Emmy nominated choreographer Mandy Moore works with actor/movers on 'So You Think You Can Walk'. While choreographing the hit Off-Broadway musical 'Nobody Loves You' at Second Stage, Mandy worked with Rory O'Malley (Book of Mormon) and Lauren Molina (Rock of Ages, Sweeney Todd), inspiring the creation of the parody sketch.

Happy Birthday Claude-Michel Schonberg! Schonberg is best known for his collaborations with the lyricist Alain Boublil. Thier stage musical version of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, which opened at the Palais de Sports in Paris in 1980, opened to acclaim in London in 1985 and on Broadway in 1987. In 1989, their success continued with the musical Miss Saigon, which starred Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Schonberg's next project with Boublil was The Pirate Queen, a musical about the 16th century Irish pirate, chieftain and adventuress Grace O'Malley, which opened on Broadway on April 5 2007.
