On October 15, teens from stage and screen came together at The Green Room 42 to perform a show they created, entitled #WeHaveaVoice. They played to a packed, sold-out house, singing songs with themes relevant to them including dreams and aspirations, belonging, family, and love. Their benefit concert raised over $2,500 for Covenant House, an organization they felt is important, relevant, and in need of their help, especially after the devastating weather that caused damage to seven of their shelters. DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd. are presenting SHREK THE MUSICAL, with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, at the San Diego Civic Theatre through Sunday, July 10, 2011. Performances began July 5.

An entirely new work, SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek!, as well as the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the Shrek movie series. SHREK THE MUSICAL tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales. The national tour of the production recently kicked off and is now underway.
