Five months into its Broadway run and WAITRESS is still going strong, selling out the pie-scented Brooks Atkinson Theatre on a nightly basis. Audiences have made their love for the show known, but they're not the the only ones who remain in awe of Sara Bareilles' first musical. Below, Jessie Mueller, Drew Gehling and Jenna Ushkowitz are updating us on life backstage at WAITRESS. I remember the first time I heard Songs For a New World. Mind. Blown. Melodic like Andrew Lloyd Webber, cerebral like Sondheim. Perfect. Of course now, Jason Robert Brown is a living legend and one of the most prolific theatre composers in history.

Last night, BroadwayWorld was at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Orlando, Florida for the 'From Broadway with Love' concert to benefit the Central Florida LGBTQ Community and the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. We spoke with Chita Rivera, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Norbert Leo Butz, Darren Criss, Lilla Crawford, Anika Larsen, Carrie Manolakos, and (in a separate video below) Kelli O'Hara. 

To be honest, I've been feeling a little HOMEsick this week. Missing our Thursday nights together at our beautiful HOME, The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Well, who says you can't go HOME... let's bring it on HOME with some of our favorite friends singing one of our favorite musical theatre classics- HOME from The Wiz. Award-winning non-for-profit Broadway Sings for Pride (www.BroadwaySingsForPride.com) held their 6th annual PRIDE benefit concert on Monday, June 20, 2016. To start the night, Daniel Quadrino, from Broadway's Wicked and Newsies, sang 'Imagine' to reflect on the tragedy that happened in Orlando. He was joined onstage by members of the New York community, to echo the sentiment that New York stands behind Orlando and that art can be used to inspire and change minds. Broadway's top musical artists will appear on tonight's telecast of 'Maya & Marty' on NBC to perform 'What the World Needs Now Is Love,' an updated version of the classic Burt Bacharach/Hal David song that is helping to support the devastated LGBT community of Orlando, Fla. An all-star roster of theater artists gathered today to record the new benefit single 'What the World Needs Now is Love' for victims of the Orlando Shooting. Broadway Records President Van Dean, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley announced the single and the charitable initiative 'Broadway for Orlando' earlier today. STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place today, Friday, June 3rd from 12:30pm-2:30pm in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including Keala Settle, who performed 'I Didn't Plan It' from WAITRESS!

Earlier this week, MCC Theater's Miscast gala, an annual highlight of the New York theater season, honored Oscar winning star of stage and screen and MCC alum Marisa Tomei. The gala featured show-stopping performances by Emmy Award nominee Tituss Burgess; Tony Award winners Lea Salonga and Linda Lavin; Tony Award nominee Keala Settle; and stage and screen stars Aaron Tveit, Beth Behrs, Cynthia Erivo, Ana Villafañe, and Shanice Williams. Just last night, MCC Theater's Miscast gala, an annual highlight of the New York theater season, honored Oscar winning star of stage and screen and MCC alum Marisa Tomei.
