Today in 1997, Titanic opened at the Lunt-Fonatnne Theatre, where it ran for 804 performances. Titanic is a musical with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone that won five Tony Awards including the award for Best Musical. Titanic is set on the ocean liner RMS Titanic which sank on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912. Directed by Richard Jones with choreography by Lynne Taylor-Corbett, the cast included John Cunningham, David Garrison, Larry Keith, Alma Cuervo, Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, and Brian d'Arcy James.

Will Chita Rivera-Led THE VISIT Make It to Broadway in 2015?

According to the New York Post, John Kander and Fred Ebb's The Visit, which has been long-rumored for a Broadway run might be on its way to New York in 2015. Michael Riedel writes that book writer Terrence McNally, whose IT'S ONLY A PLAY is currently selling out the Schoenfeld Theatre, might be in the position to acquire funding from the play's producers and a theatre from the Shubert Organization.

In her Festival debut, Broadway legend Chita Rivera embodies Claire Zachanassian, the oft-widowed richest woman in the world, in The Visit. When Claire returns to the hardship-stricken town of her birth, the locals pray that her wealth will bring them a new lease on life, but the carefully plotted renewal she offers carries a dreadful price. Tony Award-winner Christian Borle will play all six of Belle's oddball lovers, who range from an innocent college boy to an octogenarian lecher to the dying king of a tiny European country that doesn't seem to exist. Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with the classic Charles Dickens musical Oliver!, with a holiday 'twist' for the entire family. With a book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Oliver! is directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. Oliver! features David Garrison (Fagin), best known for his role as Steve Rhoades on the hit television series Married...with Children, Betsy Morgan (Nancy), John Treacy Egan (Mr. Bumble), Jose Llana (Bill Sikes), David Hess (MR. Brownlow), Ethan Haberfield (Artful Dodger) and introducing Tyler Moran as Oliver. Oliver! also features 16 local boys from across the state of New Jersey who auditioned from a pool of over 200. Oliver! plays the Millburn, New Jersey theater through December 29. The official press opening night is Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 7:00pm. Check out highlights of the production below!
