BroadwayWorld has a first look at a new StageAround production of the legendary musical West Side Story which is currently on stage at IHI Stage Around Tokyo.

A.D. Players at The George is less than 2 weeks away from opening the largest show it has ever produced. West Side Story is filling the theater with music, dance and the hope of love this summer.

Tony Award Winner and current star of My Fair Lady, Laura Benanti, is hopping across the pond to perform a concert at London's Cadogan Hall. Known for her performances on Broadway in Gypsy, She Loves Me, and Meteor Shower, this concert will be her first performance in London.

Everything's coming up roses this week because the original production of the legendary musical GYPSY is celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of its opening night! Tony Award-winning actress Beth Leavel stars as Rose in The Muny's 2018 production of Gypsy. The show opened last night and runs through August 2nd. The Muny's production of Gypsy is directed by Rob Ruggiero and choreographed by Ralph Perkins with music direction by James Moore.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Beth Leavel will lead The Muny's production of GYPSY as Mama Rose! The production will feature direction by Rob Ruggiero, choreography by Ralph Perkins, and music direction by James Moore.

Arthur Laurents was best known for his work as librettist on Gypsy and West Side Story, but was also well known as a playwright, having won a Tony Award® for Hallelujah, Baby! in 1968. Later as a director, he was Tony-nominated for Gypsy in 1975 (and the 2008 revival) as well as the original 1984 La Cage Aux Folles.

The Guthrie Theater presents West Side Story. Directed by Haj, this major revival of a timeless classic will play June 16 - August 26, 2018, on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. As magical as the evening was, after Freddie Gershon gave an impassioned presentation to the duo, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones hit the stage and brought the house down at ages 88 and 89 respectively. They joined forces onstage to perform a song from their musical The Bone Room, described by Jones as being about 'the pleasures of dying and being embalmed in this great country of ours.' Below, watch as they perform together for the last time. BWW feels privileged to share with you a bit of highlights of these two legends together before a rapt and ecstatic audience who precded to shower them with a (well deserved) standing ovation... RIP Harvey Schmidt.
