Ruth Eckerd Hall Selected as Amphitheater Operator by Clearwater City Council

On Thursday evening, the Clearwater City Council selected Ruth Eckerd Hall to operate the amphitheater in downtown Clearwater. The council vote was based on three exclusive criteria that could be considered:  Demonstrated experience of company and personnel; Project methodology, approach and schedule; and References. The vote was 3 to 2, with two council members choosing the partnership of Global Spectrum d/b/a OVG360 and Vinik Sports Group.

Returning for the fifth consecutive year, the GRAMMY Museum's acclaimed Music Revolution Project, an educational initiative developed in 2012, has begun at the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall, offering talented youth in the area the chance to engage in musical workshops, songwriting courses, mentoring sessions and record original material that they've written. The tuition-free, four-week program culminates when they perform their new work live at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Friday, August 4 at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale now.

Legendary Publicist Charlie Cinnamon Dies at 94

First reported by the Miami Herald, legendary theatrical publicist Charlie Cinnamon has passed away at 94 years old. The paper reports that Cinnamon died Thursday morning, days short of his 95th birthday.

Buffman has had 29 Tony Award nominations, won the New York Drama Critics' award for ‘Best Musical', was awarded the very first Florida Ambassador of the Arts, the Distinguished Achievement Award from Wharton School of Business, ‘Entertainer of the Year' award from the Governor of Louisiana, and Decade Achiever's Award from the National Polo Association. He was the recipient of ‘Man of the Year' in Miami, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Miami Beach, Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Palm Beach. He also won ‘Producer of the Year' in Washington, D.C. and Florida (six times).
