WAM Theatre Sets 2016 Season

WAM Theatre's Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven announced plans for the company's 2016 season today. The Berkshire-based professional theatre company celebrates its seventh year with some notable special events, a thought-provoking series of play readings, and an exciting new collaboration for the fall mainstage production.

Boston Public Works Theater Company to Premiere UNSAFE

Boston Public Works Theater Company will present the world premiere of Unsafe, a psychological thriller, written and directed by Jim Dalglish. The play will be co-produced by Boston Public Works and Cotuit Center for the Arts on Cape Cod. It opens March 31 at CCftA and runs through April 10, before the production moves to the Plaza Theater at the Boston Center for the Arts, where it runs April 15-30.

Full Cast Announced for ONLY THE BRAVE at Wales Millennium Centre

Emilie Fleming will join the previously announced David Thaxton, Caroline Sheen and Neil McDermott to head the cast of the new British musical, ONLY THE BRAVE, premiering at the Wales Millennium Centre from 28 March to 2 April. Based on the real lives of men and women caught up in the D-Day landings, this new production will be directed by Steve Marmion, Artistic Director of London's Soho Theatre. It will be Wales Milliennium Centre's first production of a full-scale, original musical.

Spiro and Kind Join Tompsett In Phoenix West End Transfer Of GUYS AND DOLLS!

Following critical acclaim at the Savoy Theatre, the Chichester Festival Theatre revival of Guys and Dolls will be extending its run at the Phoenix Theatre from 19 March 2016. Casting for the West End extension includes multiple Olivier Award-winning actress Samantha Spiro (Hello Dolly) as Miss Adelaide, Richard Kind (Disney/Pixar's BAFTA award-wining Inside Out) as Nathan Detroit and Oliver Tompsett (Wicked) as Sky Masterson. Continuing in their roles from the Savoy to the Phoenix Theatre are Siubhan Harrison as Sarah Brown, and Gavin Spokes as Nicely Nicely Johnson.

eighth blackbird Wins 4th GRAMMY Award; HAND EYE Album Out This April

eighth blackbird, Chicago's fierce and vibrant contemporary classical sextet, has won a 2016 GRAMMY Award for Best Small Ensemble/Chamber Music Performance for 'Filament' (September 2015; Cedille Records), featuring music by Bryce Dessner, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, and Son Lux.

Full Cast Set for Mercury Theatre Colchester's UK Premiere of CLYBOURNE PARK

Artistic Director of Mercury Theatre Colchester Daniel Buckroyd today announces the full company for the UK regional premiere production of Bruce Norris' acclaimed play Clybourne Park which opens at the company's home base ahead of a national tour - Ben Deery (Karl / Steve), Dan Gaisford(Kenneth), Rebecca Manley (Bev / Kathy), Rebecca Oldfield (Betsey / Lindsey), Gloria Onitiri (Francine / Lena), Wole Sawyerr (Albert / Kevin), William Troughton (Jim / Tom) and Mark Womack (Dan / Russ). The production opens on 15 April as part of the Made in Colchester Season, with previews from 8 April and runs until 23 April. It is the first time the production will be seen in the UK outside of London.

Denis Lill to Replace Tony Slattery in SHADOWLANDS UK Tour

Due to health issues, Tony Slattery has sadly had to withdraw from the 2016 national tour of William Nicholson's SHADOWLANDS, and the producers, director and cast wish him a speedy recovery. Denis Lill has kindly agreed to step into the role of Warnie and has joined rehearsals today.

Out of the Apple Orchard to Host Concert Reading, 3/6

A concert reading of Out of the Apple Orchard by award-winning playwright Ellen W. Kaplan, based on the book by award-winning local author Yvonne David, will take place on March 6, 2016 from 3pm-6pm at The Lowndes Shakespeare Center. In Out of the Apple Orchard, Yvonne David tells a story of a struggling Jewish family in the Catskills of New York. Inspired by the novella, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Out of the Apple Orchard contains similar themes, such as hunger, forgiveness, and a new beginning.

New Exhibition Sharon Lockhart / Noa Eshkol to Open at Rose Art Museum, 2/12

The Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University will present Sharon Lockhart / Noa Eshkol, an exhibition featuring Los Angeles-based artist Sharon Lockhart's collaboration with the extraordinary work of Noa Eshkol (1924-2007), the Israeli dance composer, theorist, and textile artist. The exhibition will be on view February 12-June 5, 2016.
