HANDMAID'S TALE Creator Gets Deal With Hulu & MGM TV

Lauded for inspiring young viewer's imaginations about space, science and technology, Disney Junior's 'Mission Force One,' the latest chapter of acclaimed series 'Miles from Tomorrowland,' marked the first kids television premiere in space, when an episode entitled 'The Space Station Situation' debuted to astronauts on board the International Space Station earlier this week. The episode, which features an exact replica of the space station using NASA's original designs, was also shown at a private screening event at the nonprofit Space Center Houston, the official visitor center for NASA Johnson Space Center, this past weekend before making its television debut, MONDAY, MAY 7 (5:30-6:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney Junior  and in the DisneyNOW app.

An elite group of twenty of the most talented young opera singers in the country competed this weekend for prestige and cash prizes in the 30th Annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition. ZACH Theatre is proud to announce the cast for the Pulitzer and Tony Award®-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George.  With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, Sunday in the Park with George plays ZACH's Topfer Stage from May 30-June 24, 2018 under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley with musical direction by Allen Robertson.

Mercury Theatre Colchester today announces the full cast and creative team for the world premiere of the 2017 Mercury Playwrighting Prize winner - Oliver Bennett's Europe After The Rain. Cara Nolan directs James Alexandrou (Will), Simon Haines (Max), Natasha Kafka (Marta) and Anna Koval (Yana) and the creative team includes Amelia Jane Hankin (Designer), Kiaran Kesby (Lighting Designer), Nuno Santos (Sound Designer) and Craig Hamblyn (Fight Director). Europe After the Rain opens in the Mercury Studio Theatre on the 31 May with previews from 25 May and runs until 9 June.

Texas-born writer, director, producer and actor Del Shores will once again bring his own brand of Southern humor to town when his new one-man show takes the stage at Terrific New Theatre. A special performance has been added on May 17 at 8PM. After the performance, the TNT audience will be treated to a meet-and-greet with the star.

On Sunday, March 25th, 45 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 8th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition.  St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 15 acts (28 individual finalists) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 28th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (a list of acts can be found here). 

Now about to turn thirteen, La MaMa Moves! Dance Festival, the ever-evolving spring fling of dance that exuberantly commandeers the various theaters of La MaMa each year, takes on yet another challenge in 2018. This year's festival showcases nine artists who take the road less travelled, daring to speak out in new and forceful ways about issues that trouble and inspire them: race, gender, religion, exclusion, each using the body to voice concerns in ways words cannot. Eleven companies, nine performances, including five premieres are on the boards. New this year will be two offsite events: panel discussions about artists and cultural identity, and screenings of rarely-seen films. The 2018 festival runs May 10-June 3.

Shrunken Shakespeare Company's Co-Founder and newly appointed Executive Director Yvonne Cone announced today that the well-known company is back after two and a half years with a brand new Board of Directors, and an all-new production. SSC's first production in this new outing as a not-for-profit will be William Shakespeare's Richard II, which will be the highlight of their 2018/2019 season. This production is directed by Victor Malana Maog with choreography by Otis Sallid and musical direction by Roberta Duchak. South Pacific runs April 5 - June 17, 2018, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m.
