Michael Park announces that, following a hugely successful three-week run at West Yorkshire Playhouse earlier this year, Christine Mary Dunford's newly adapted version of Lisa Genova's best-selling novel, STILL ALICE, will tour the UK from September 2018, directed by David Grindley and starring Sharon Small as Alice. The tour will open at the Sheffield Lyceum from 12 to 15 September and will play Richmond Theatre from 18 to 22 September, King's Theatre Edinburgh from 25 to 29 September, Norwich Theatre Royal from 2 to 6 October the Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford from 9 to 13 October and Festival Theatre, Malvern from 20 to 24 November. Further venues and casting are to be announced.
The Kitchen presents a multimedia project from Charles Atlas, continuing the institution's nearly 45-year relationship with the video art pioneer. In The Kitchen's gallery, two new video installations take a retrospective look at Atlas' work while offering a counterpoint to his interactive 2003 show Instant Fame! and its portraits of downtown figures (through May 12).
In June, New Conservatory Theatre Center welcomes the return of Sordid Lives creator, Del Shores with the San Francisco premiere of Six Characters in Search of a Play, directed by Emerson Collins. This one-man show is filled with six one-of-a-kind characters Del Shores met in real life, that haven't quite made it into any of his other plays, films, or TV shows. Over the course of 90 minutes, the audience will meet "Yvonne" the anti-vegetarian Dallas waitress; "Sarah", a Trump-hating elderly actress with an inhaler in one-hand and a cigarette in the other; "Jimmy Ray", the evolving, Magic Mike-loving latent Georgia redneck; "Loraine", the once brilliant drama teacher who has lost her mind and is now obsessed with porn; "Marsha", the monkey-hating lesbian with COPD; and "Aunt Bobby Sue", the racist Republican with a heart of gold.

A counter-narrative to the traditional macho mythology of the New Hollywood era, this series seeks to correct a historical wrong. As programmer Jesse Trussell explains, “This series is a redress to the established Easy Riders and Raging Bulls narratives; women from coast to coast radically altering film form, film subject and film power structures.” This series spotlights the prodigious work of female filmmakers in the United States from 1967—1980; films made both inside and outside of the Hollywood system and encompassing a wide array of genres from comedy to drama, art house to exploitation.

Playwright Kemp Powers knew he'd found something incredible in the personal recollections of former slaves documented by a federal writers project during the Great Depression. Discovering the different voices and views in those first-person histories inspired him to learn more and write Little Black Shadows, which has its world premiere at South Coast Repertory, April 8-29, on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Directed by May Adrales, the show is part of the Pacific Playwrights Festival. Tickets are available now at www.scr.org.
The City of Oakland represents in San Francisco when AXIS Dance Company, the country's leading physically integrated dance company crosses the bridge and comes to Z Space in the Mission District as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, and its first season under new Artistic Director, Marc Brew. The program will feature Radical Impact, a new work produced in collaboration with composer JooWan Kim, Artistic Director of Oakland-based Hip Hop Orchestra, Ensemble Mik Nawooj. The original score for the piece will be performed live by string quartet.

On Sunday, March 25th, 45 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 8th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition. St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 15 acts (28 individual finalists) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 28th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (a list of acts can be found here).
