Cleopatra Entertainment has set a release date for their production ROOM 37 – THE MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF JOHNNY THUNDERS, a supernatural horror-thriller written and directed by the Cordero Brothers – Vicente Cordero and Fernando Cordero Caballero. The film features Leo Ramsey, Devin McGregor Ketko, Timothy Lee-Priest, and Jason Lasater, and includes the infamous Johnny Thunders song 'Born to Lose,” along with a vocal appearance by legendary New York Dolls member Sylvain Sylvain. Produced by Shanti Whitney, the film was executive produced by Brian Perera, Yvonne Perera, and co-produced by Tim Yasui. The film is also set for its UK premiere on March 24th at the second annual Sound Screen Music & Film Festival at the Regent Street Cinema in London, England, which runs from March 22nd thru March 27th. The premier occurs just weeks before the 28th Anniversary of Thunder's mysterious death (April 23rd, 1991) and tickets for the premier can be purchased directly from the Theater here. Cleopatra will debut the film on Tuesday, May 21st worldwide on all VOD platforms.
With the critically-acclaimed Equus and The Funeral Director currently touring the UK, English Touring Theatre today announces the full tour dates for its Autumn 2019 Season. The company, in a co-production with Royal & Derngate, present the revival of August Wilson's Two Trains Running directed by the 2018 winner of the RTST Sir Peter Hall Director Award, Nancy Medina. Then, in a co-production with Sheffield Theatres, they present the world premiere stage adaptation of Matt Haig's Reasons to Stay Alive.
The Women in the Arts & Media Coalition will present the 2019 Collaboration Awards. which recognize women who successfully collaborate to create new and influential work, at the SVA Theater (333 West 23rd St, New York, NY 10011) on Saturday, March 30 at 6:30pm. The 2019 Collaboration Awards Gala, which is being held on International SWAN Day (Support Women Artists Now), will be hosted by SAG Award-winning actor and producer Alysia Reiner (Fig on Orange is the New Black on Netflix).
Awarded biennially, the Collaboration Awards encourage professional women in the arts and media from different disciplines to work collaboratively on the creation of new work. The award recognizes the best of these collaborations and goes to a winning project and its two creators. 2019 marks the sixth time the Collaboration Awards have been presented.
On Saturday, March 9th, 45 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 9th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition. St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 15 acts (24 individuals) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 13th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (a list of acts can be found here). In addition to the thrill of performing on the Fox Stage, contestants are eligible to win college scholarships, prizes and performance opportunities. 'We couldn't be happier with the level of talent. The students seem to get better and better each year,' exclaimed Mary Strauss, Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation Board President Emeritus. The final competition is a professionally produced production that is FREE and open to the public. Bennett directs Robert Finch (Frank Strang/Horse), Keith Gilmore (Harry Dalton/Nurse/Horse), Ethan Kai (Alan Strang), Syreeta Kumar (Dora Strang/Horse), Norah Lopez Holden (Jill Mason/Horse), Ruth Lass (Hester Salomon/Horse), Ira Mandela Siobhan (Young Horseman/Nugget) and Zubin Varla (Martin Dysart) completes the cast. The production opens at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 21 February, with previews from 15 February and runs until 23 March prior to embarking on a UK tour to Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic, The Lowry, Northern Stage and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
