10,000 BALCONIES Announced At TheatreSquared

On August 30, TheatreSquared (T2) will stage a special workshop production of 10,000 Balconies as the first offering in the Spring Theatre at T2's new home in downtown Fayetteville. This new play, conceived, created and directed by Kholoud Sawaf (director of T2's Vietgone), loosely inspired by Romeo and Juliet, is set in modern Syria. 10,000 Balconies is an intimate window into the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world, suffused with its poetry, music, dance, and movement, and centered on a story of love in contemporary Damascus. With original music performed live by Hadi Eldebek (Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road project ensemble) and members of the cast, 10,000 Balconies is an immersive performance experience, offered in Northwest Arkansas from August 30 until September 1. The play's three-year developmenta?"which included a series of artist-driven workshops and retreats in Northwest Arkansas and New Yorka?"and public performances were made possible by a major grant from the Building Bridges Program of the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.

Brewer Science Celebrates 20-Year Friendship With The Jacques Thibaud String Trio

This year marks the 20th year that Brewer Science has invited the world-renowned musicians from the Jacques Thibaud String Trio to perform in Missouri. To celebrate this long-standing friendship, Brewer Science has expanded the concert series to include guest musicians to perform with the trio for a total of three concerts, bringing world-class chamber music to Rolla, St. Louis, and Columbia, Missouri.

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. The season also features renowned and up-and-coming soloists including prodigy pianist Harmony Zhu, 2019 Sphinx Competition winner cellist Sterling Elliott, and leading young pianist Michelle Cann in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Florence Price's recently re-discovered Piano Concerto in One Movement with NYYS Orchestra, as well as in-demand drummer Matt Wilson, celebrated saxophonist Steve Wilson, and trombone virtuoso Wycliffe Gordon with NYYS Jazz. Neil Crory Tribute Concert Just Announced At Jeanne Lamon Hall

An unprecedented lineup of stellar Canadian singers will take part in the Neil Crory Tribute Concert, an extraordinary celebration of music and the human voice in honour of the legendary CBC Music producer, mentor, impresario, colleague, and friend who died on January 10 at the age of 68. Prominent singers whose careers Crory nurtured, including Phillip Addis, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Isaiah Bell, Benjamin Butterfield, Tracy Dahl, Nathalie Paulin, Brett Polegato, Jean Stilwell, Krisztina Szabó, Daniel Taylor, Erin Wall, and Monica Whicher, will perform selections from the music most cherished by Crory at 7 PM on Friday, October 11 at Jeanne Lamon Hall, Trinity-St. Paul's Centre. The Neil Crory Tribute Concert includes the participation of CBC Radio-Canada personalities Ben Heppner, Eric Friesen, and Françoise Davoine and will be recorded by CBC Radio Music for future broadcast.
