Red Grant Among Comedians to Be Featured on Showtime's 'Black History Month Celebration'

Each Thursday and Friday night in February, SHOWTIME(R) will honor Black History Month with its annual month-long programming initiative featuring revealing documentaries and stand-up specials spotlighting the Black experience. Highlights include a new documentary from noted historian Nelson George and a stand-up special from the legendary Paul Mooney.

Allan Harris, Michael Lanning, et al. Set for CROSS THAT RIVER Reading, 1/26

Theatre Aspen is holding a private reading of the new musical Cross That River on Thursday, January 26th, in New York City. The musical is subtitled "a new musical about the black west" with a book by Allan & Pat Harris and Andrew Carl Wilk and music and lyrics by Allan Harris (based on an original story by Allan & Pat Harris).

FringeNYC 2012 Applications Now Available

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will present the 16th Annual Festival from August 10th - 26th, 2012. Each year the festival presents programming by nearly 200 of the world's best emerging theatre troupes and dance companies. General FringeNYC applications are being accepted for participants in all genres (theatre, dance, puppetry, performance art, multi-media, etc.), and separate FringeAL FRESCO (free outdoor events) and FringeJR (children's programming) applications are also available. Applications are now available online at www.fringenyc.organd completed applications are due February 14, 2012.

Paula West Plays Herbst Theatre, 2/11

Paula West, San Francisco's favorite jazz singer returns to the Herbst Theatre for one performance only on Saturday February 11, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Performing with the George Mesterhazy Quartet, she will perform songs from her new CD, "Live at the Jazz Standard." The CD features many of Paula's best loved tunes never before recorded by her.

CALLAWAY SISTERS At The Colony Hotel Palm Beach

These two incredibly talented sisters are longtime friends of the Royal Room. This will be Ann Hampton Callaway's seventh visit since 2002 and Liz Callaway's third engagement since 2005 - but the FIRST TIME that the two have appeared here together. They have recently been performing together in BOOM!, celebrating songs from the 60s and 70s.

Alec Baldwin to Give Americans for the Arts Lecture, 4/16

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The lecture is presented by Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, and in partnership with Ovation, the only television network dedicated to all forms of artistic expression.

Jimmy Owen to Appear at Dizzy's Coca Cola Playing from The Monk Project, 1/3-8

NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Ownes will appear at Dizzy's Coca Cola from January 3-8th, 2012, and will perform music from his newest album, The Monk Project. On January 5th, 2012 NEA Jazz Master and recipient of the A.B. Spellman NEA Jazz Masters Award for Jazz Advocacy discusses his career, the NEA, and his just released tribute to Monk CD -- Jimmy Owens: The Monk Project. After the discussion, Jimmy will also be available for questions and to sign copies of his new CD.

NJPAC Presents SING THE TRUTH 12/18
