The House Theatre of Chicago to Stage THE COMEDICAL TRAGEDY FOR MISTER PUNCH This Fall

The House Theatre of Chicago is proud to announce its 2016 - 2017 season opening production, the world premiere of Kara Davidson's A Comedical Tragedy for Mister Punch. Influenced by the long history of puppets, Punch and Judy, and directed by Shade Murray, the production runs September 2 - October 23 at the Chopin Theatre's Upstairs Theater, 1543 W. Division St.

Sarah Ruhl's Mother Kathleen Ruhl to Star in Chicago Premiere of FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY

Shattered Globe Theatre will conclude its 2016-17 Season with the Chicago premiere of Sarah Ruhl's FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY, written for her mother Kathleen, a Chicago actress who played Peter Pan onstage as a teenager. Directed by Jessica Thebus, the production will feature Kathleen Ruhl, surrounded by the Shattered Globe Ensemble. FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY will play April 6 - May 20, 2017 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.

Playwright Chisa Hutchinson (Dead and Breathing, Dirt Rich, She Like Girls, This Is Not the Play, Sex on Sunday) leads writing workshops and a public Q&A as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters Program on July 27 at 4:00 PM at the Frank Center (260 University Drive Shepherdstown, WV 25443).

First Floor Theater (FFT) is thrilled to remount THE AWAKE, Ken Urban's lyrical and highly theatrical exploration of interrogation, government control, and the compulsive power of dreams, directed by Josh Altman, as part of the Chicago Park District's Theater on the Lake 2016 Festival Season at the Berger Park Cultural Center.

A Red Orchid Extends Ike Holter's SENDER

?Due to popular demand, A Red Orchid Theatre adds six performances to the run of the world premiere of Sender by Ike Holter, directed by Ensemble Member Shade Murray. Featuring Ensemble Member Steve Haggard, the cast of Sender also includes McKenzie Chinn, Mary Williamson and Steven Wilson. The extension includes Saturday matinees as well as additional weeknight performances. Sender will now run through June 4, 2016. A Red Orchid Theatre is located at 1531 N Wells. Tickets to extension performances go on sale Thursday, May 12, 2016.  

Jennie Webb's CURRENCY to Open 4/15 at The Inkwell Theater

The Inkwell Theater proudly announces the world premiere production of Los Angeles-based playwright Jennie Webb's latest comedy Currency. Directed by Annie McVey, Currency will open on Friday, April 15, 2016 and run for six weeks until it closes on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Performances will be held Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through its six-week run as a guest production at VS. Theatre at 5453 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90019.

Applications Now Available for 2016-17 Dramatists Guild Fellows Program

The Dramatists Guild Fund, Dramatists Guild of America, and Program Chairs Michael Korie, Laurence O'Keefe, and Diana Son announce applications for the 2016-17 Dramatists Guild Fellows Program are now open and encourage playwrights, composers and lyricists to apply.

A Red Orchid Sets SENDER World Premiere Cast

?A Red Orchid Theatre concludes its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere of Sender by Ike Holter, directed by Ensemble Member Shade Murray. Jackalope's 8th season continues with the world premieres of Rolling, written by Calamity West, directed by Nate Silver, and Prowess, written by Ike Holter, directed by Marti Lyons, with the full casts and production teams announced below.
