Working Theatre Announces New Season and Leadership

Working Theater - the Off-Broadway theatre dedicated to plays for and about working people, notably industrial, transportation and service trades -- has announced that Mark Plesent, the company's Producing Director since 1995, will take on the artistic leadership of the Company with the new title of Producing Artistic Director, effective immediately. Laura Smith, the Company's Director of Special Events and Marketing since 2006, will assume the role of Managing Director. Playwright and actress Lisa Ramirez will be brought on as Artistic Associate.

The upcoming 25th Anniversary concert of Les Miserables, will be broadcast via satellite around the world. On October 3rd, O2 concert will be shown in movie theatres in Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Germany. Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment announced today that Chicagoan Susie McMonagle, currently playing the role of 'Mum,' will take over the role of 'Mrs. Wilkinson' in the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical beginning September 21, 2010. Emily Skinner will play her final performance as Mrs. Wilkinson on September 19, 2010. Billy Elliot is now playing through January 15, 2011 only at the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph Street, Chicago).

According to Dress Circle, a special 25th anniversary two-disc edition of 'Les Misérables Live!' will be released in the UK on September 13. The recorded cast includes Madalena Alberto, Ashley Artus, Earl Carpenter, Gareth Gates, Katie Hall, Rosalind James, and other members of the 2010 UK Tour. The tour will play at the Barbican Theatre in London for 22 performances, beginning on September 14.
