IT TAKES TWO - An Evening Of Duets - At The Waterfront Playhouse

The Waterfront Playhouse will kick off their 72nd Season with 'It Takes Two - An Evening of Duets'- a two night concert that will star over 25 of Key West's best performers. The evening will feature hits from the world of Broadway, pop, standards and even disco, all done as duets. It's an evening chock full of talent, entertainment and double the fun.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) is currently rehearsing the Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring MEASURE FOR MEASURE, directed by David Esbjornson, and ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by Daniel Sullivan, running in repertory June 6 - July 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Bank of America returns as lead sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park 2011, supporting The Public's mission to keep Shakespeare in the Park free.

Theatergoers of a certain age will remember walking past The Little Theatre (now the Helen Hayes) when Albert Innaurato's comedy GEMINI was running and seeing Kenn Duncan's black and white photographs outside. The one that received the most attention was that of the bare-chested Reed Birney who was featured in that long-running comedy. Birney also received even more attention when the television ads for that production were aired. The TV commercials not only popularized a phrase that became a buzz word throughout the tri-state area: ‘Herschel, take human bites!'; but gave Birney a few seconds of air time that were unmistakable.

Donmar Warehouse Appoints Josie Rourke as new Artistic Director

The Donmar Warehouse today announces the appointment of Josie Rourke as the company's new Artistic Director. Rourke takes up the position on 1 January 2012, taking over from Michael Grandage who steps down as Artistic Director at the end of this year after a decade in the role.

The new artistic director will be Josie Rourke, who will take over from Grandage on January 1st, 2012. Rourke first worked with the Donmar Warehouse in 2000 as a resident assistant director. In addition to directing the 24 Hour Plays at the Old Vic, she also currently serves as artistic director of London's Bush Theater.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) committee has just announced its 2010 IRNE Award nominations, and Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has earned 17 for its 2010 season. Included in the Large Theater category, Reagle Music Theatre is judged alongside Boston's Huntington Theatre Company, Cambridge's A.R.T., Trinity Repertory Company of Providence, RI, Maine's Ogunquit Playhouse, and the North Shore Music Theatre of Beverly.

LA Opera's productions of rarely performed works as part of the Company's Recovered Voices series conducted by Music Director James Conlon were filmed for release on DVD and Blu-ray. The 2008 double-bill of Alexander Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg (The Dwarf) and Viktor Ullmann's Der zerbrochene Krug (The Broken Jug) is available now, and the 2009 presentation of Walter Braunfels' Die Vögel (The Birds) will be released on November 16, 2010. The videos, released on the Arthaus Musik label, will be distributed by Naxos Music.

Washington National Opera Updates 2010-11 Season Schedule

Washington National Opera General Director Plácido Domingo has announced the company's 2010-11 season, including productions, casting and creative teams, and performance dates for all main stage operas. Opening September 11, 2010 at the Kennedy Center Opera House, the company's 55th season encompasses 45 performances of five productions, all new to Washington: Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera, a new production of Strauss' Salome, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, the company premiere of Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, and Donizetti's Don Pasquale.
