Carnegie Hall announced today that world-renowned fashion designer Oscar de la Renta will receive the seventh Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence at a gala benefit on Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at The Plaza's Grand Ballroom. The award, recognizing Mr. de la Renta's outstanding leadership in business and philanthropy, will be presented by Sanford I. Weill, Chairman of Carnegie Hall's Board of Trustees.

The legendary Kenny Rogers has enjoyed a 55-year-career as a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, distinctive vocalist, and consummate entertainer. Amazingly, Rogers has charted a record within each of the last seven decades and scored a hit single in the past six. Not many artists, if any at all, can lay claim to those extraordinary chart accomplishments. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame during a special Medallion Ceremony in Nashville on October 27th.
