Charles Wright, long-time Drama Desk member, has been elected the new President of the Drama Desk by its membership voting electronically in approval of the projected Officers and Board of Director slate for 2014-2015.] He assumed the Presidency at this evening's annual membership meeting, held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Travel Inn, 515 West 42nd Street. Mr. Wright was introduced as the incoming President by outgoing President Isa Goldberg, who was elected to remain on the Board as a Member-at-Large.

The Art Institute of Chicago will be the first American museum in nearly 15 years to present a solo exhibition of the work of British Op Art artist Bridget Riley. The exhibition, which will run from today, November 11, 2014, through March 8, 2015, will feature the Art Institute's own Ascending and Descending Hero, an important early black-and-white painting, alongside Continuum, the artist's only sculptural work, and two of her 'stripe' paintings.

The evening will feature performances by special guests such as Joshua Bell, John Corigliano, Josh Ralph, Emily Bergl, Michael Bacon, William Wolfram, the Matt Herskowitz Trio, and Quint's own Argentine tango group, the Quint Quintet, featuring featuring JP Jofre, Octavio Brunetti, Oren Fader, and Pedro Giraudo. This concert will mark the opening of the 12th Annual Russian Heritage Month® and all proceeds from the evening will benefit the Russian American Foundation's Jewish Heritage Education Program (a 501(c)3 organization).

The York Theatre Company continues the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with Smiling, The Boy Fell Dead with Book by Ira Wallach, Music by David Baker, and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The creative team includes director James Glossman with music direction by Joseph Baker, and casting by Geoff Josselson. The ensemble is dedicated to exploring the music of Astor Piazzolla and Argentine Tango. The quintet will include bandoneonist JP Jofre, double bassist Pedro Giraudo, electric guitarist Claudio Ragazzi, and pianist Octavio Brunetti. Russian tango dancers Michael Nadtochi and Zoya Altmark will also appear.
