Amphibian Stage Productions, the contemporary theater cultural explorers call home, announced the cast for the world premiere of Cyrano, the first play in Amphibian's bold five-production 2018 season.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, a thriller by Steven Dietz, based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle, on Monday, December 11, at 7 p.m.

It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it's up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.

This tale is one of two that are part of the repertoire of the 'Ghosts of Christmas Past Trolley Rides,' co-sponsored by The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities (MAC) and the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company.

What happens when you take a holiday classic like Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, set it in Connecticut and include Connecticut historical figures such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, P.T. Barnum, and Mark Twain as the Christmas ghosts? You get A CONNECTICUT CHRISTMAS CAROL, an all-new musical take on the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, with a book by LJ Fecho and a score by Michael O'Flaherty that begins performances at Goodspeed's Terris Theatre on November 17. Directing this premiere musical production is Broadway actor and director, Hunter Foster, who returns to the Goodspeed to bring to life this exciting new take on the classic tale. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Hunter to talk about the show, what it's like working on a new production like this, and his directing style.

The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set in William Gillette's Connecticut castle which won the 2012 Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best Play.

'Mr. Holmes, I am under such a strain that I shall go mad if it continues,' said Enid to the master detective. Thus begins a race against time for Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to stop the bizarre murders in an eerie country manor in 'The Adventure of the Speckled Band.'

Announcing East Haddam Stage Company's tour of Sherlock Holmes And The Adventure Of The Speckled Band

The Warner Stage Company will hold auditions for a Nancy Marine Studio Theatre production of Ken Ludwig's THE GAME'S AFOOT (Or Holmes for the Holidays) on Monday, September 25th and Tuesday, September 26th at 7:00pm by appointment. 

 The East Haddam Stage Company has launched their 9th summer season of live theatre at Gillette Castle State Park. As the Resident Theatre Company at the park, EHSCO is performing their original 30-minute comedy / drama William Gillette: Senator's Son to Super Sleuth, featuring William Matus of West Hartford and Nicole Morin of Haddam. With generous sponsorship from Staehly Farm & Winery of East Haddam, and other area businesses, the shows are free to the public.

Bloomsday was commissioned by the ACT theatre in Seattle, Washington and premiered there in September of 2015, where it received rave reviews. The play has received further productions throughout the country: the Ensemble Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio, Austin Playhouse in Austin, Texas, and the Next ACT Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
