"The Blade of Jealousy," a play adapted by playwright Henry Ong from Tirso De Molina's "Jealous of Herself," will receive a staged reading at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble.  Melchor falls in love with a mysterious veiled lady in a cathedral, simply from a glimpse of her hand. When he meets Magadelena, he is less enamored, not realizing that Magadelena and the veiled lady are one and the same person. A madcap comedy of disguise and deception ensues.

An official launch reception for accomplished photographer Tina Freeman's new book Artist Spaces, New Orleans will be held at the Ogden Museum of Art in New Orleans on Wednesday, October 29, from 6-8 pm. Few artists have the luxury of separate work and living spaces, thus work and life often end up compressed into a singular personal environment. Artist Spaces provides a comprehensive portrait of the city's artists and their relationship to space.

The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library is located in the historic West Adams District of Los Angeles and houses the pre-eminent collection of Oscar Wilde materials in the world, including a typed copy of "Lady Windermere's Fan" with Wilde's handwritten notes from 1892, the year this comedy of manners was first produced. Thus it is the perfect site for Wilde's brilliant examination of status, family values, gossip and loyalty, presented by Chalk Rep..

Back by popular demand after sold-out houses last summer, Chalk Repertory Theatre, the Los Angeles-based production company that is a leader "in the growing conversation about the shape of immersive theatre," will re-mount Oscar Wilde's LADY WINDERMERE'S FAN at UCLA's William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles this summer for 5 performances.

Dear Bookworks Bookworm, I read a book this month that I had every intention of liking, but didn't. It had a story line that interested me but the characters were one dimensional and flat and the writing that was not worth writing home about. Rather than review a book that disappoints, I decided to review a movie that I had just seen with Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche, Words and Pictures. This is a movie well worth the ticket price. It is always a pleasure seeing a movie where actors do what they should be doing best, acting and where writers are doing what they should be doing best, writing.

Daughters of The Dragon - A Comfort Woman's Story, a new novel from Minnesota-based author William Andrews, seeks to expose Americans to Japan's forced sexual enslavement of women during WWII euphemistically called comfort women. County's 100th Anniversary, Chalk Repertory Theatre will premiere GALLERY SECRETS, four new short plays commissioned by four Los Angeles playwrights performed after hours at NHM. Each play is inspired by an assigned gallery, and set in the time period when that gallery was built, uncovering 100 years of history, architecture and exhibits.
