The Flea Theater presents Horizon Theatre Rep's production of the rarely-seen play BENITO CERENO - written by the late Robert Lowell and based on the Herman Melville novel of the same name -- Off-Broadway at the Flea Theatre (41 White St.) in Manhattan, with previews set to start September 22 prior to an official press opening on September 25.

On Monday, April 25, Jim Caruso and the Broadway at Birdland concert series were thrilled to present the 30 Year Reunion Celebration of the Broadway Opening of Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies, with the Duke Ellington Big Band and original cast members. Onstage for the historic performance were Adrian Bailay, P.J. Benjamin, Mercedes Ellington, Ken Hanson, Bruce Heath, Terri Klausner, Frank Owens, Valarie Pettiford and Ty Stephens.

Robin Wagner, Lewis Brown, et al. Win TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards

Three-time Tony Award-winning scenic designer ROBIN WAGNER and esteemed costume designer LEWIS BROWN are among the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 8 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Brown was selected to receive the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer Robin Wagner will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Sadly, Mr. Brown passed away in January of 2011. His award will be accepted by his long-time colleague and friend, Albert Wolsky, who was the recipient of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award

Rialto Chatter: DRACULA To Close This Weekend?

It looks like off-Broadway's DRACULA, playing at the Little Shubert might have a shorter run than originally announced. The show, which just opened on January 5, was originally scheduled to close on March 13. Now, after speculation in the NY Post this morning about an early end for the revival, Telecharge.com is only offering tickets for the show through January 9.

Thora Birch Released from DRACULA; Understudy Bridges to Play Lucy

Thora Birch has been released from the cast of the revival of Bram Stoker's DRACULA. Previews begin Tuesday, December 14 at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street) in Manhattan. Official opening is set for January 5, 2011. Emily Bridges, Ms. Birch's understudy, steps into the role of Lucy. Ms. Bridges is the co-author of a stage adaptation of Acting: The First Six Lessons, which she wrote and performed with her father, Beau Bridges. A student at the London Dramatic Academy and Moscow Art Theatre School, she has appeared on stage in Gaslight, The Princess and the Frog, and Happy Hour and the movies Voyage of the Unicorn and The Uninvited.
