HBO Documentary Films has acquired the U.S. TV rights to Brian Oakes' powerful documentary JIM: THE JAMES FOLEY STORY, about the life, death and legacy of journalist James Foley, who was murdered by ISIS in 2014, it was announced today.
SummerStage's 2013 season features the debut of Forewords at Central Park, a new series of spoken word discussions with performing artists including Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent of The Zombies with Jonathan Demme onJune 15 and DJ Kool Herc with Cindy Campbell and hip-hop historian Jeff Chang on August 10. Comedy Central presents three great stand-up showcases this year, including a Central Park show on June 26 including performances from Jeff Ross, John Mulaney, Gabriel Iglesias and Amy Schumer. Influential New York poet Sekou Sundiata receives tribute on July 3 from three great artists: Toshi Reagon, Sandra St. Victor and Nona Hendryx.
The first free Central Park show of the SummerStage 2013 season will be NPR and WNYC's 'Ask Me Another' on June 14, 2013. Featuring Jonathan Coulton and host Ophira Eisenberg, the show runs from 8 to 10 p.m. (recommended arrival time 7 p.m.).
