SONGBOOK SUMMIT Opens Tonight Celebrates Berlin, Kern, Carmichael & More Starting Tonight

Peter and Will Anderson - the identical twins and Juilliard graduates hailed as "virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone" by The New York Times - begin the return engagement of their SONGBOOK SUMMIT concert series at Symphony Space for a four-week residency tonight, August 7, scheduled to run through September 2. The Andersons and their six-piece ensemble shine the spotlight on four iconic composers (one per week) in a celebration of the Great American Songbook. The show features an engaging video presentation, entertaining narration, and live performances from the jazz sextet featuring vocalist Molly Ryan.

Identical twin brothers, Peter and Will Anderson, have kept a pure love of music and discovery from their childhood at the forefront, as they've built successful careers and found their place in the jazz community. Playing the clarinet and saxophone since grade school, this duo went on to study at The Juilliard School, and through the support of their mentors, were introduced to different sounds and styles and guided to performance opportunities all throughout New York City. Building impressive resumes, they have toured all throughout the United States, as well as internationally, and have worked on composing their own music for numerous albums. Inspiring audiences of all ages, these modern-day trailblazers are keeping the legacies of the greats alive by sharing the soulful history and sounds of jazz that have influenced generations.

Music Mountain Presents Penderecki String Quartet With Victoria Schwartzman, Piano And Peter And Will Anderson Quartet

America's longest running summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, continues its 89th season with the Penderecki String Quartet presenting a stellar program to include Haydn, Grieg, and Shostakovich on Sunday, July 22 (3pm). The weekend kicks off on Saturday, July 21 (6:30pm) with the dynamic Peter & Will Anderson Quartet offering an evening honoring the great Duke Ellington! Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

Music Mountain Presents Escher String Quartet And Helen Sung Quartet

Music Mountain, America's longest running summer chamber music festival, welcomes first time guests! Escher String Quartet performs Webern, Schubert, and Schumann on Sunday, July 15 (3pm). Helen Sung Quartet brings her energized and spirited jazz to Music Mountain on Saturday, July 14 (6:30pm). Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

America's longest running summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, continues its summer of Beethoven on Sunday, July 8 (3pm) when the Shanghai Quartet performs Beethoven Quartet Cycle Program #5. The Connecticut favorite Jive By Five kicks off the weekend playing the best of the jazz age on Saturday, July 7 (6:30pm)! Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

This summer welcomes nine new ensembles to Music Mountain bringing a Latin flair, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and the spirit of New Orleans jazz! "This year our Twilight Series highlights major figures in jazz, such as Monk, Coltrane and Ellington, as well as major traditions-New Orleans jazz, Swing Era classics and the American Songbook-; the Music Mountain Jazz Opening Night on June 16 offers a hard-to-match event with two-time Grammy Award-Winner, Ted Nash Quartet, you can't miss it!" writes Oskar Espina-Ruiz, Music Mountain artistic director. Favorite returning guests celebrate Gilbert & Sullivan, Big Band, and a splash of Broadway! Concerts are scheduled thru September 22.
