From stage to screen, Broadway will be represented on TV for the week of June 18, 2018!

Musical comedy and summer go together - especially in a town like Wichita when the 'feels like' temperature is 101 with 70% humidity! It was absolutely blissful to slide into a comfy seat at the well air conditioned Century II Concert Hall to watch Music Theatre Wichita's season opener, Sister Act. Curtain is at 8pm, but I like to get there by 7:30pm to hear Wayne Bryan, MTW's Producing Artistic Director, share his dramaturgical insights on the production, and also to watch the Teen Choir perform a few musical numbers relevant to the current show.

Sister Act opens Music Theatre Wichita's season, directed by Mark Madama and choreographed by Robert Hartwell. Mr. Madama is Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan, with a host of directing credits, both in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Hartwell's numerous Broadway performing credits include Motown, Nice Work If You Can Get It (Astaire Award nomination) and Bette Midler's original company of Hello, Dolly!, and he is the founder and director of 'The Broadway Collective.' Scenic designer Adam Koch will join the team to consult on the sets he designed for the Ogunquit Playhouse.

The historic Cape Playhouse's 92nd season kicks off with Robert Harling's poignant Steel Magnolias. Starring Judy Kuhn, Mary Testa, and Amy Bodnar, and directed by Pamela Hunt, Steel Magnolias plays through 23. Check out photos from the production below!

Robert Bannon to star in a one man Musical Revue at the Triad Theater on July 15th . The show entitled 'Unfinished Business' will be a Pop and Broadway Revue that will span ages and genres. The show will address the story and lessons of a 5th grade teacher from NJ and his journey back to the stage.

A great cast, along with Coward's brilliant dialogue, make for a ghostly good time!

McAninch Arts Center, located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage (COD), presents the 2018 Lakeside Pavilion Free Outdoor Summer Series. Programming runs July 12-Aug.10 and includes a Thursday evening Family Movie Series, the Thursday evening WDCB Live Jazz Concert Series and a Friday evening Pop Music Series. One of the highlights of the Friday evening series promises to be the July 20 New Philharmonic pops concert, which will be broadcast on Facebook Live for the second year in a row. New for this season: To help insure everyone's safety in light of the growing popularity of the series, seating for films and evening concerts will begin at 6 p.m. No admittance will be allowed prior to 6 p.m. for sound check and security reasons.  Admission to Lakeside Pavilion Summer Series events and parking is always free.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present the 21st annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The Prize, which is named to honor one of the world's greatest humorists, will be given at a gala performance featuring some of the biggest names in comedy. This year's ceremony marks the 21st consecutive year that the Kennedy Center's marquee comedy award will be presented and broadcast nationally. On-sale and ticketing information for this event will be available at a later date, and sponsorship packages for the Mark Twain Prize gala performance are on sale now.
