MT Wichita Presents SISTER ACT 6/13-17

Sister Act comes to MT Wichita Next Month!

Sister Act opens the season, directed by Mark Madama and choreographed by Robert Hartwell. Mr. Madama is Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan, with a host of directing credits, both in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Hartwell's numerous Broadway performing credits include Motown, Nice Work If You Can Get It (Astaire Award nomination) and Bette Midler's original company of Hello, Dolly!, and he is the founder and director of "The Broadway Collective." Scenic designer Adam Koch will join the team to consult on the sets he designed for the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Sister Act is a hilarious new musical comedy based on the hit 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg. Featuring original music by Tony and Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), this uplifting show was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, the police put her in protective custody in the one place they are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior, but using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community.
