The Studio Theatre presents SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD
by A.A. Cristi
- Apr 28, 2017
This August, The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol (806 San Marino Drive, The Villages, FL) will produce its inaugural show in its Summer Song Cycle Series: Songs for a New World. Songs for a New World is the musical which catapulted Tony Award winning composer, Jason Robert Brown (author of The Studio's spring musical, The Last Five Years) into international fame. Performed in concert by a cast of two men and two women on a bare stage, this remarkable song cycle examines the challenges, rewards, and knowledge we obtain and endure when pursuing our dreams in a new world of possibility.

The Studio Theatre continues its inaugural season with Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST 5 YEARS. I talked with Whitney Morse (Cathy) about the rehearsal process, her inspiration, and the challenges of telling a story backwards.
BWW Review: The Studio Theatre's LAST FIVE YEARS Brings the Emotion
by Libby Champion
- Mar 7, 2017
Joy. Pride. Jealousy. Sadness. Pain. These words and so much more describe the relationship between THE LAST FIVE YEARS' Jamie, an up-and-coming successful novelist, and Cathy, a struggling actress, as they navigate the story of falling in love, getting married, and then drifting apart. Jason Robert Brown's quintessential love-gone-wrong tale is performed wonderfully by Brian Zealand and Whitney Morse at the Village's Studio Theatre at Tierra Del Sol. The telling of this musical is interesting in own right - Cathy tells the story from the end of their relationship, when she discovers that Jamie wants a divorce, while Jamie starts from the beginning when he meets Cathy and falls head over heels.
