Broadway and operetta unite in the New York Philharmonic's concert performance of Leonard Bernstein's satirical, effervescent musical CANDIDE, slated for release online on Digital Theatre, Wednesday 4 June 2014. The show features music by Leonard Bernstein, book adapted from Voltaire by Hugh Wheeler, lyrics by Richard Wilbur, and additional lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, John Latouche, Lillian Hellman, Dorothy Parker and Leonard Bernstein.

The concert, Monday, May 5, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., will open the Spring For Music festival at Carnegie Hall, for which North American orchestras are invited to present one-night-only performances of unusual programming. The concert will be broadcast live on WQXR 105.9 FM and wqxr.org at 7:30 p.m., hosted by WQXR's Elliott Forrest and David Garland. WQXR will make it available for on-demand listening for one year following the stream on wqxr.org.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) today announced its programs for the 2014-15 concert season, conductor Jacques Lacombe's fifth year as the Orchestra's Music Director. Fulfilling its mission as a statewide orchestra, the NJSO brings subscription programs to venues in Newark, New Brunswick, Princeton, Morristown, Red Bank and Englewood, with 14 weeks of subscription classical programs, four pops programs and three family concerts, as well as several special concerts.
